Stars/lists and life
Firslty a massive thank you for Pigpen for the lists. I am sure a lot of thought goes into them and I can honestly say that over the months I have done many tasks that I would never have if they had not been on the list (things like sort the airing cupboard, clean the porch, wash the pet bedding, wipe the front door etc)
To start with I loved getting the stars but to be honest like those of us with kids know star charts can be short lived and the effects wear off and can even lead to rebellion. I found that if I knew I could not get a star for that day I'd do less of the day rather than nearly get a star - just me I'm sure, but I can find them demoralising. Sounds like me whenever I saw windows on the list :rotfl:
The levels are great and I think for flybabies are definitely the way to go.
I like having the odd challenge - not every week, but I hope to complete some of the declutter this week.
Posting your own lists can be very usefull too.
Considering the work involved I'd go with OS and Serena and say scrap them, go back to basics, be glad of what you have achieved in a week. Use Pigpen's wonderful lists for inspiration and guidance but why clean out a cupboard that doesn't need doing when your DW filters are filthy, just to get the star? I am sure there has been improvising/cheating/substitution going on to get the stars but what the h$ll as long as something was done.
However, some people may just love the stars and I'd hate for Toots to feel that we did not appreciate her star keeping so if others want to keep them that is good too but on reflection I'm going back to using Miss P for guidance and inspiration with the odd bit of tweaking and a few days of just well being.
Love to all Dusty (two glasses of wine have gone to my head)
wot she said ^^^Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

Not sure if I'll get ALL this done today but will give it a go
I find posting my list on here really motivating, regardless to getting a star etc. I used to write lists at home but always managed to ignore them
Right I think that's me done for today. Have a minded child coming shortly for settling in session and I've still not had my brekkie!!!! Will try and sort a drawer of junk in the bedroom later if I get chance (demanding children -my own in fact- permitting).

ooh I have a dilemma - your thoughts please.
DD (13-and-a-half) has been invited to a sleepover at her friends, Friend has a big brother 14/15 and a really sensible lad who I get on with. Dilemma is both mum and mum's OH will be at work, on nights so the kids will be in on their own. Now I KNOW they ARE all sensible kids ...
thoughts please?Emma

Morning lovelies, hope your all well and happy.
Valli - a question for you regarding DD, if she said she was going round to mates during the day and her parents were at work (assuming a good 8 hours), would you say yes or no?
If yes, what's the difference? Just cos it's during the day doesn't mean they are good little angels that would not get up to mischief. Also just because it's evening/night doesn't mean they suddenly turns into devils with wicked evil thoughts and doings.
Just my thoughts. It's hard to let them grow up, we are always worried about doing the 'wrong' thing. They will suprise you with how grown up they can be, well in the case of my three that was soTo love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0 -
