CPW: Free phone, 500mins, 100 txts for £1.74/month

EDIT: OFFER BACK ON! click on "sale offers"

Carphone warehouse are offering the Nokia 7600 video mobile on three for £2.99 per month.

You get 500 anytime any network minutes per month and 100 texts. I bought one of these phones and now use it instead of my landline!

Linemypocket.co.uk are currently offering £15 cashback on all pay monthly phones from CPW in their "cashback sale". This makes the total cost for the year £20.88 or £1.74 per month. Details here: http://www.linemypocket.co.uk/sitedetails.php?company=Carphone%20Warehouse

A word of warning though - the monthly cost is by cashback - you have to pay the full price of £30 per month but get the money back after 6 and 12 months. As its from Carphone warehouse I don't think you'll have a problem though!

  • Hi GimmeGimme

    Forgive me for being Thick!!

I find the mobile phone malarkee a bit too much but the offer sounds good. I am looking for a phone for my 13 year old as he doesn't like the one I gave him a year ago ( for emegencies only ). It's a pay- as -you go thingy Nokia phone.

He wants one that can take pictures and listen to music MP3's. I believe this phone can do it.

You state that you have to pay £30/month in your last paragraph and claim back something. Is that correct?

I am not all with it, please advise. Is there something else I could consider as I don't think (hope) that the phone will be used that much. Also do the free minutes mean that you can ring any number even if the number dialled is on a different network?

    Many Thanks

  • yes you have to pay £30 per month upfront but you can claim what have paid back on the 6 th month and then again on the 12th month !!

Yes your 500 mins is to ANY MOBILE OR LANDLINE NETWORK at anytime of day !! but does not include 0845 0870 0800 and other game/compertition type numbers
  • After the way CPW have treated us consumers with the NEC e616v deal I would never touch this company with a barge pole ever again let alone recommend them.
  • both me and the wife had the 3510i deal a year ago from cpw and we both recieved our cashback without any problems.
i would recommend them on that basis.

  • Please do not make the mistake i did. STAY AWAY from any mobile on the 3 network. Their coverage and customer services are appauling. They say when you go out of a 3 area your phone will switch to the 02 network. This is sort of true, but when it does switch networks which is very frequent you get cut off and have to redial.

    Just my 2 p worth.
  • This is a stupid statement to make. I think this all depends on your location, and how often you use the phone.

I've had my '3' mobile for a week or so now, and reception has been better than my last phone (o2) in Central London, Canary Wharf, and various towns in Surrey and Middlesex. I make calls on average of 2-4 mins per call, so drops really don't affect me as I am assuming they only happen if you're on a long call. Indeed, I haven't had any dropped calls yet, and even if I did, dialling back isn't a problem unless it's happening every 30 seconds.

got straight through to '3' customer services when I had a problem and they were extremely efficient. Plus the first month of entertainment content is free!

It seems peoples experience varies a lot - but as with most things people are more likely to write about it if they are unhappy rather than happy. People on the NEC thread are moaning because they tried to exploit a mistake by CPW but the error was spotted and closed. Granted it could have been handled better.

My family have had 6 phones from CPW over the last 3 years and we have been very happy with every single one. Customer service has been excellent, especially for my brother who has special needs/
  • 3 phones are fine if you don't move around. Try using one in a moving car, it will drop the call every few minutes. If you can't use them on the move then you may aswell use a land line.
  • PS don't take on any extra services ie inclusive texts and various content packages. They omit to tell you when you have these extras that you cannot cancel them for 6 months.
