• Hi everyone,

my ex wife is having problems with this company, can I ask how is it possible for them to access her bank account details without her knowledge. They claim that they took payment from my account and it was me who requested a credit report, I find this very confusing as I didnt have access to my ex wifes banking details so this has to be fraud doesnt it?

I will be calling all versions of this so called company and speaking to trading standards etc. Just wanted to confirm that it is fraud, does anyone know?

thanks

Just read this thread it is all explained.
Playing Adam & Eve, seems like a new tactic on the part of the snake.
• her bank is conducting a fraud investigation, but creditcheckinstantly told my ex wife that if she did this that they would pursue me for the money.

I would like to conduct a preemptive strike to ensure they cant do this.

Can anyone offer any advice
• an update,

contacted the company and was told that they told ex nothing of the sort and that there was no record of my name on her file. So someone is lying, I also got confirmation that there was no way that they would pursue me for the money if Santander take the money back from them.

To cover my back though I spoke to my bank and to trading standards; who will be getting back to me in due course.

If the OFT had a report about these companies why are they still trading ?

I now have to think about anything that I order over the net for fear they might be hidden away somewhere in the T & C's

I mean, are we safe ordering train tickets on line ?

Makes me wonder what deal the credit reference agencies have with these people, they must be paid something for being tied into the T & C's

Government should be looking into these practices, why aren't they ?
• Hi,
I've been reading this forum for a bit while my bank looked into this. Same thing happened to me, though I had never even heard of these companies until their names showed up on my account. It was ridiculous, my bank basically said they couldn't stop it as I had given continuous authorisation, they said I should contact the companies direct, I have done this with Rewards and I used the template letter and adjusted it, but I'm not sure how to get in touch with credit score as their website has had its security revoked so I can't access it? any thoughts?

Thanks

Davey
• Hi,
also tried to e-mail and phone Adaptive Affinity and mail is bounced back, phone line is experiencing technical difficulties?
• I had £14.95 taken from me

I used the template posted by Fyffes on 07.07.11 and it worked a treat

I emailed contact@rewardsnow.co.uk last Thursday night and on Friday morning i had an email stating

I am writing to confirm that your membership to Rewards Now has been cancelled with immediate effect. A full refund of £14.95 has now been processed on your behalf. Please allow 7-10 working days for this be credited to your account.

It seems they give in a little easier these days

...my bank basically said they couldn't stop it as I had given continuous authorisation, they said I should contact the companies direct...
The person you spoke to at the bank has made a mistake.

Read MSE's Recurring Payments article and find out that the FSA says...
You have the right to cancel them {recurring payments} directly with your bank or card issuer by telling it that you have stopped permission for the payments. Your bank or card issuer must then stop them – it has no right to insist that you agree this first with the company taking the payments

INSIST that your bank does the right thing.
• I too was recently charged £19.95 twice by a website I had never visited or heard from.

When I contacted my bank and was told the money was taken by rewardsnow.co.uk I immediately emailed them to enquire into how they attained my bank card details.

Their reply was that I joined their website! I have just graduated and have no money in my account to be able to join such a website. Not only this but I was charged by my bank twice for being overdrawn because of a website I have never even heard of!

Now I will not only be contacting Trading Standards and writing a full article on my blog for all to see but I will also never use Credit Score Matters again.

If anything they are damaging my credit score by over drawing my account! This is really disgraceful behaviour and in this day and age when the internet is a powerful tool for consumers I cannot believe they have allowed this to happen to so many people without rectifying it.

I do not care if it is legal or illegal in fine print. The point is their behaviour is unlawful. They are being devious to a point that is harming others and we will not stand for it. I'm not sure what kind of person has time to read the terms and conditions of every website they use their card for. If companies want us to shop with them then they should keep their terms and conditions for extraordinary conditions that can harm them, not to hide or plot ways of depriving internet users of their money.

I have still not received the supposed Asda gift voucher I signed up for.

See if you can get any action from Trading Standards.
I for one wont be holding my breath.

City of London is the only local authority that has the ability and contacts to take this sort of thing seriously.
