Incidentally in the Netherlands they refer to it as 'Mexican Flu' which does tend to help reduce the panic by those who would associate this swine flu with the bird one and the cow brain one. :D

Exactly! Do you think there would be this hysteria if they'd called it simply 'summer flu'

    or just 'flu'

Every year, the available vaccine is different depending on the expected strain/type the following winter. Nobody runs around like a headless chicken because there might be a different flu on the go next winter in comparison to last winter . Although there isn't a vaccine for this strain - yet - I doubt it will take long to sort one out.

I keep hoping I'm going to get it but nobody in Wales seem to catch the damn thing! Perhaps the virus can't live in torrential rain or something...hrm.

No, it's just that the virus got confused by the word 'mochyn' (pig) so decided not to bother crossing the border... :D Yet...

So, don't walk out the door, you might meet other people who might have this virus, or some other nasty virus, only, you won't know that will you.

Don't get in a car, bus or train, because you might be in an accident, if crossing the road you may be hit by a car or lorry.

Don't walk out in a storm, you might get hit by lightening, or if you get wet you might get a cold, which will lead to another nasty virus.

Maybe you should not breath in the air, because it is full of pollution and you could get cancer.

More harm is done by people being to scared to live their lives in a normal way. Life is full of risks. No one knows if their going to catch a virus, or have a brick full on their head, or have a sudden heart attack. But if you live your life worrying about what might happen with ifs and buts, you and your family will not live at all and you might as well put yourself and your family in a locked room with no outside contact at all, because, what IF!

Take it from some one who came very close to meeting their maker, life is for the living, so get on with it and don't think about what could happen, just make every day count and enjoy what is.

I'm genuinely worried about the pig flu scare, not because I am worried about the virus - it appears to be not much worse than a normal bout of flu, but because half the population will be self diagnosing themselves with this flu and running off the the pharmacist for their dose of Tamiflu.

    There are lots

    http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/flu_like_symptoms/causes.htm

of other diseases with flue like symptoms. As I work with potentially contaminated water, I am susceptible to Weil's disease. If I get a severe case that's not treated promptly, I die from liver and kidney failure.

Philistines the lot of you!!

Mock the government figures if you will. But here's one to stick in your pipe and smoke that's totally indisputable ...

1 in 1 of of us will die at sometime, yup, that's right and it's absolutely scientifically indisputable. At some time in our life - we'll die. Bet that's wiped those smug smiles off your faces! ;)

So disbelieve on pig-flu if you wish, roll out the stats on Sars, ignore MRSA, Ebola and whatever else ... doesn't mean there ain't a number 59 bus just around the corner with your name on it, does it?

Call me a doom monger when I say "WE'RE DOOMED" but me personally, I'm not going to leave my hermetically sealed bunker ever ... well, not until they carry me out in a box!! :D
