Swine Flu

I am concerned about my family with the government saying that 1 in 1000 will die from swine flu and 1 in 3 will catch it (h t t p://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8159488.stm). The agents of the house we rent insist on entering our home every 3 months. Such a person is very high risk to have swine flu due to their being in constant contact with a high number of different people day after day. Is there any way I can stop them entering my home and bringing the disease in? Have I really got no right to protect my family under these extraordinary conditions?

I don't want to seem rude, but are you going to keep your family inside for the duration of the swine flue "pandemic"? Your agent is no more of a risk than any other random person on the street, if your children are at school or if they use public transport I would have thought they were still at risk of catching it. You could supply your agent with a mask when they come to inspect if you think it would help, make sure they give you at least 24 hours written notice. Just ask politely and see if that gets you anywhere if it really bothers you that much.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

So you don't come in contact with the outside world yourself?
Get a grip on reality. People suffer from flu every year.0 -
They are more of a risk because of the reason I gave: they come into contact with a high number of new people every day.
And yes, I do intend to protect my children as much as I can. If you read the page I gave the link to you can see: 1 in 3 will catch it, 1 in 1000 will die. Do you suggest I do nothing?0 -
The Mass Hysteria that is Swine Flu continues.
The worst case scenario states 65,000 will die - but it may only be 3000.
You are at far greater risk from people you meet on a day-to-day basis, not someone who enters your house once every 3 months."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

So you think this is a normal flu year? Have you not read anything about this? I hope you aren't one of the 1 in a 1000 that will die.0 -
Lots of people will come into contact with new people on a daily basis! Shop assistants, bus drivers, anyone you pass on the street!! What do you do for a living that means you never see any new people? (Genuinely interested to know!)Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

Get a grip woman, and get on with your life.
Haven't you noticed since the swine flu "pandemic" there's been no more mention of MP's expenses? And yes, I do intend to protect my children as much as I can. If you read the page I gave the link to you can see: 1 in 3 will catch it, 1 in 1000 will die. Do you suggest I do nothing?
And it doesn't say that at all if you read it properly, absolutely nowhere does it WILL.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
So you think this is a normal flu year?
It's not normal. I gather it's unusual to have so many cases in the summer; however come winter things will go back to "normal" with a high infection rate of a fairly mild strain. I hope it stays mild ... might be best to catch it now.0 -
