Oh puke!! Yeah right, of course you are. Afterall it helps to ease your guilt seeing as it was YOU who pulled the poor bloke apart in the first place & started all the mud slinging & bullying aimed at him. Two faced creep.

So let me get this straight, you never even use the card other than once a YEAR for small amounts, miss minimum payments a number of times & you are getting all piddly that they don't want your custom anymore? What point is there in issuing a card you don't even use?

Not sure about Carrot, you sound more like a Plum to me. The general idea of having a credit card is to use it.

Do you have an English speaking version of that?

Dear oh dear. Reading small print obviously not one of your strong points then? The card remains the property of the issuer & must be surrendered to a retailer if fraudulent use is suspected.

Read the bit on the back of your bank card, yes that's the bit - the line that says "This card is the property of **** bank & must be returned etc". Retalers are the front line in protecting customers from card fraud & it would have been blocked straight away and returned to the issuer so would not have been returned to the OP's wife anyway. The retaler has no obligation to return it even if the OP takes his wife to the supermarket because it belongs to the bank & does not have to be returned to her.

Oh and you might want to read the bit about allowing other people to use your card, even your partner unless they are an aditional cardholder. The OP's wife has flouted the t&c by allowing him to use her card full stop.

Have a look through your terms & conditions about when the card must be surrendered to a retailer & get your facts right before making anymore silly comments. ;)

For Chrissakes, all they did was ask a simple question. The same question they ask millions of people who claim single person's allowance. What makes your mother so different from everyone else for goodness sake? I dread to think what a sheltered world some people must live in if this is the most terrifying thing that ever happens to them.

Yesterday 168 people died in an Iranian plane crash - you think that's bad? My mother had a letter yesterday & they even had the audacity to address it to her!

Because i moved all my direct debits from barclays, and have had no money going in (as mentioned) my account has now been passed to 'collections'.
    and
Nice man rang me up and i explained in brief my situation ie i had gone into my branch on 27th july explained that owing to a personal change of circumstances i would not have any money coming in for at least 4 weeks and that i would stop all my payments out and please could they help me out by removing the reserve, so that i had a chance of paying back what io owe when i get the tax credits through. To which i was told 'no, you're in the reserve and will be charged £88 a month until you pay the full balance and all charges (£88 in august, £96 in september)'

Then i explained about my encounter with telephone banking and my reserve being removed. At which point, collections man interrupts me with
'so they knew you were having severe financial difficulty and refused to remove the reserve' yes, i say. He says, when did you first tell them you were in severe finacial difficulty and ask for the reserve to be removed? i say april, and when i went into the bank to remove it once when I WAS IN CREDIT i was told not to get rid of it as it 'doing me a favour' and the charges without it 'would be more'

Collections man then says that i should be reclaiming my bank charges on the basis that i was DELIBERATELY MISLED by branch staff on several occasions as they would have been able to take the reserve away, and should have done. He also said that all the charges i have paid since i asked for it to be removed in april should be paid back to me.

He also confirmed that my reserve was successfully removed by telephone banking and that no more reserve usage fees would be incurred

Please note this was a BARCLAYS EMPLOYEE in a RECORDED PHONE CALL if it was not the truth he would have been risking his job saying it, and i believe him.

PLEASE LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I AM NOT HAVING ANY SORT OF A DIG AT BARCLAYS MANAGER, JUST RELATING AN EXPERIENCE WITH HIS EMPLOYER
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o
  • To be honest, I work in Telephone Banking and Collections have told me on a number of occasions that if a customer is in financial difficulty then the Reserve needs to be removed and then they will put the customer on a payment plan.
