hi - i transferred from abbey a couple of months or so ago and the whole transfer has been fine. in fact, i would put halifax in a whole different league. my abbey account was closed on 7 august and, to date - over 2 weeks later - i still have not received the money due to me ... about £800. i phoned today and spoke with a lady in a call centre ... after being on the phone to them for 20 minutes when she was attempting to speak with the banstead, surrey branch who had closed my account, the call was disconnected. soooo frustrating. i would definitely recommend the halifax reward account - the staff are always very helpful and i have even received phone calls from halifax customer service asking if everything is ok! i hope this is helpful to you, if you have not already opened your halifax account.

    Thank you for this.

I have thought about it overnight and would very much like to open the Halifax bank account, but as I'm going away in a month I would want to make sure that everything was sorted by then and I'm not convinced that it would be so will probably leave it till I come back.

Good to hear people's opinions on the different bank accounts though.

  • I thought it was £1 per day for agreed )OD up to £2500?

It is, but I'm not planning on arranging an overdraft as I've never needed to go into it before last month. Stupid really, I forgot I'd bought something on debit card and it came out the day before payday.

This is not a situation I'm planning on repeating so don't want the temptation of an overdraft but still don't want to pay £28 should the same thing happen again

Sorry, while we're on the subject and asking silly obvious questions about HF reward Accts....

If I already have 1x Halifax Reward accounts and apply for 2 more will they set them all up on the same login to internet banking or will I need a separate login for each one?

I assume its better to apply online than go into the same branch again and say "I'm already a halifax customer and want 2 extra reward acccounts....."

    Thx :)

Same login details. You'll just see the different accounts listed

Did you login and apply for more from within your existing Halifax online banking or would i need to be a little more 'circumspect'

    Thx

Not really. I have a savings account which I applied for in branch, and it appeared on list of accounts without me requesting. But even if you applied for an account that didn't show, there's an option to add accounts to online banking.

Thanks Wiz, would be interested to hear if anyone did just apply for the extra 2 reward accounts from within existing internet banking with an existing Reward account as that seems alot easier but if it must be a separate application and 'added later' so be it

I already had a HICA and applied for all my Reward accounts, one after the other, as an existing customer from within my secure area.
