You need to have your £100 in for a minimum of 24 hours, otherwise it will revert back to whatever status the account had before (in my case HICA).
I was too quick on the button to move money in and out for my own good on that occasion.
  • Having a real nightmare with my Reward current accounts at the moment as they keep being blocked by Halifax so I can't do any transactions and can't view them online. Manged to get them opened up to day to transfer most of the money out and an hour later they were blocked again. I can't get any sense from the various helpdesks who have now said that head office have blocked it but can't say why and to ring back tomorrow.

I have 2 Halifax and 2 BoS accounts and I suspect that this may be the problem as I am over the '3' however asked 2 members of staff yesterday about this and they said it wasn't a problem. I opened 2 at the beginning of August with BACS transfers and no problems. The next 2 I opened a couple of weeks ago, I had to do the cheque at the branch thing with one of them and the online problems started.

Having spent so much time on the phone with them over the past couple of days, I can say that the staff are nice and helpful when you finally get through all the options and the music but don't seem to be able to fix my problem permanently.

I am now thinking of closing all accounts as I can't bear to spend more time on the phone to them and have lost the will to fight on.

Does anyone else have experience of being blocked and getting unblocked and keeping the accounts???

Mine was blocked today, right after I transferred some money out - I don't even know if it went out or not. So frustrating. Going to go into the branch tomorrow and take out as much as I can and not really use that account (except for to get the £5 :D), I can't stand not being able to access things online

Can anyone tell me when the deadline is to pay in the £1000 to get the reward? I got it OK last month for the first time but this month I'm thinking about the Bank Holiday weekend and want to make sure I get my transfer done. I made one by BACs which has not arrived yet.

No. You only need £100 to activate the account, then your cards are sent out. Crediting the account with £1000 entitles you to the £5 reward.

Just be careful. Despite them saying in the letter you can credit your account by other ways than cheque, if paying in by BACS it will go in, then move to a suspense account. I had to ring up when it disappeared and they could track it down. It was then paid into my account the next day as they said and that was then enough to activate it (and send the debit card).

Yeah I know. He doesn't want the cards but he got the account for the £5 reward so is going to stick in enough money to activate the account within a month and get the cards whether he wants them or not to get the £5! Start with a small transfer first to test the water and make sure things are O.K.

Not bothered about the cards, but can always file them away for emergencies. Transfered in the £1k first, now have sent £1 to each account to keep them active.

My accounts opened up as standard accounts then switched to Reward within a day. Transferred £1k in yesterday and have just moved it immediately between all 3 Reward accounts. Hopefully this should be fine and the £5 rewards should hit at the beginning of next month, but will I need to credit £100 to each of the 3 accounts now even though I have already passed £1k between them all, to keep them as reward?

    Cheers

I had to reinstate the £100 for 24 hours just to make sure the account
did not revert to its original status. So look again in the next 24 hours
and see if the status is still as a Reward account. If it is fine, if it has
changed, then stick in £100 in each of the accounts for 24 hours.

I have just spoken to telephone banking and they have confired that. Found out I can't take my £1k back out to my other bank until tomorrow.

    Ho hum.

I only have to fund my accounts with £250 per month as I work for the Halifax. It's a gift ! :)

I know banks are hard up at the moment, but surely they pay you more than that. :rotfl:
