And for what its worth (although I don't know why there is such a discussion over where is Surrey!) - as far as I am aware, Kingston is in Surrey. (And yes I really DO live in Surrey! :) )

The London borough of Kingston sort of pokes out quite significantly into Surrey, which is why I think it's sometimes referred to as Surrey...

Presumably the OP didn't necessarily want to live in Surrey itself, but within reasonable distance of Surbiton, which includes London!

The LONDON borough of Kingston is in London ALL of it, does part of Kent poke in Sussex:rotfl:

The OP asked for the cheaper areas of Surrey & was given (in the main) a list of south west London:rolleyes:

How thick do you people sound?

How can you say the London boroughs of Croydon/Sutton/Kingston are in Surrey:confused:

    Really:rolleyes:

County Hall is in Kingston, which is a bit of a joke (& sore point) as it brings work for Surrey council OUTSIDE of Surrey & into London.

    Kingston is in LONDON:rolleyes:

Due to local government reorganisation in 1965, County Hall is no longer within the county of Surrey, but within the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames in Greater London. In July 2003 it was decided to move county government to a new building in Woking and Kingston University planned to acquire County Hall. However, the project was scrapped in January 2006.[3][4]

MrsE - I see your point, but I'm sure it doesn't matter to the OP unless they are looking for the snobbery of living in "real" Surrey.
I'm sure they are interested to hear to Sutton is good value and has good links to Surbiton - surely thats what the question was?

Its just the OP asked for Surrey & loads if people (including those who say they know & live in Surrey) suggested south west London.

If I asked for nice areas of Kent, would I get a list of south east London???

I would have thought "real" Surrey cheaper than south west London;)

Ok - I think it appears that this is a sore subject with you - I just said I thought Kingston was in Surrey - I can see that you have corrected me on that.

For the record I have lived in Surrey my whole life - i'm just not that clear where the *actual* boundaries are....
