No-one on here should make anyone feel bad about themselves, I think we all need to calm down and leave the AA talk for AA meetings.
lewt you said a while ago you knew now what it felt like to be told you were doing it wrong and you were preached at by someone else. Please try to remember those feelings when you are on here, you seem to have gone backwards into doing it again.
Its not my place to run the thread and tell people what to do, but we have some bad feelings here and until the AA posts started, we never had that.
I'm sorry, if I have over stepped my mark.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
if people dont want they dont want it. thats fine. but the options sre limited for alcoholics who are in full thrown addiction. al didnt i post today that it was a symptom? and a few times before?
i know al's done well this last year but every one else here i get the feeling dosent really want to stop or has'nt. correct me if im wrong.
Thinking of AA as a brain washing thing is laughable to me. although i did think it myself. aint depening on your mrs staying with you if you dont drink a kind of depenance too? i look at it as maintance and growth,-what i do in AA these days. its also about carrying the message to the stilll suffering alcoholic. if no1 did that i would not be well now. i can only keep what i have by giving it away. wanted or notIf i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
But the thread isn't about alcoholics, it is about people with alcohol problems.
75% of people with an alcoholic problem cure themselves, some stop drinking, some cut down and some continue to drink a "normal" amount. Saw that on American website earlier.
No one has said you have to stop. I stopped because I don't think I can trust myself. Others have changed their habbits.

I don't like praying and I don't like higher powers.
I don't like being told what to do and I would never got on with AA or Al anon. So I'm out of this particular disscussion, because I've heard it all before and I don't like it.
I thought we were just having a discussion and I admire you for that. It seems the opposite to me - its ok to say you don't believe but if you mention the Fellowships it is thought of as preaching. What don't you like?
I can only tell it how it was for me and make suggestions based on my own experience. I have never been told what to do and I do not tell people what to do. I have said several times on here that it is everyone's choice to do what they think is bestThat's life, it's just the way it is0 -
I don't like any bad feeling towards anyone, I'm sorry if you think I have said something wrong.
I need to read it all again, it just seemed to be getting a bit not so nice and I can't see why we are arguing about AA.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
Well this isnt addressed at me but..... I think you do preach with every respect to Lewt, you both do.... There is a faith and you see nothing but that faith... look at your sig..... enjoy life a bit as well it can be fun....0

I think you left some rice pudding btw...........“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
Got to agree with Jayne.
All you appear to have done is moved a dependence on drink to a dependence on a higher being. Exactly what I've done, but I see mine as real, it's my family, something that I have to work at to keep.
As has been said a number of times, each to their own, fine to suggest things, but not the this is the only way, the must do way, because it isn't.0 -
in your opinion al. i dont see moving dependance to a hp as a bad thing in anyway he dont make me !!!! the bed cry or anything that alcohol used to. if people think i preach thats ok. do what al did a while ago and put me on ingore list.
i love my life today. i dont have terrible times now because of faith.
"But the thread isn't about alcoholics, it is about people with alcohol problems."-al. good point al maybe im in the wrong place. If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0
