  • Hi everyone,

    Just wanted to share something.

My ex partner Roderick died a year ago last week, at the age of 44 from pneumonia and chronic alcoholism. I hadn't seen him for a couple of years, the last time we spoke I told him not to get in touch until he'd controlled his drinking, but he never did.

He was very intelligent, with a family that loved him and me as a partner for eleven years. But he had his demons, and never dealt with them. The last four years we spent together were hell for me, I did my best to help but nothing worked. In the end, the best thing for me was for us to separate, and although we stayed in touch for a while, in the end as I said above, I broke contact completely.

I went to his funeral, and held the cord as his coffin was laid in the ground. It was so sad.

As for me, now I don't drink at all. Alcohol makes me ill now, so I decided to stop completely about four years ago.

Wishing everybody out there who is struggling with alocohol and the demons a chance to recover and get sorted.

Sorry to here that. You still have a three year olds birthday to look forward to. Just because there is a future, you needn't forget the past.

Thank you for telling us that Michael

I thought my ex-husband was going to kill himself too with the amount he drank - it's not nice to watch that or someone battle with their demons. I felt so helpless.
I couldn't drink for a long time it made me so ill. I don't do so bad now tho!
I've put details of Al-Anon on the previous page if you want to give it a try.

    Take care

    Morning

Thanks Michael for that post. Its hard to let go isn't it.

I thought I was going to kill myself, sometimes I think I still will sometime in the future. We'll have to see, easier to take it in smaller slices of a day at a time.

    and particularly my coccyx.
Chris, what is that :rotfl: it must be in your bum, I could google it, but its too easy :)
