Happy new Year to everyone.!!!! I woke up this morning - no hangover ! i have not had a drink today even tho i really wanted one around 4pm and then around 7pm and got really fidgety . Hopefully it will get easier. i am so glad i found this thread.
Thanks to jayne doe and everyone who pm'd me with words of support.the longest i have ever stayed off drink was sat till wed after a really bad hangover so here's hoping this time

    Well done blondie..:T
I hope to be quittin too this year.
I did finish off my xmas beer stocks today.( 5 cans stella) left them allone till 6.30 then cracked.
But I am now going to attempt to stay off it, even if its only a weeks break.
I normally drink Fri/sat/sun. about 7 to 10 cansa night. and then nothing in the week.
I still have spirits left in the cupboard but I usually only go for these after a beer, so I hope I can resist.

I am only awake now because I cant sleep sober....(been drinking every day since xmas friday).

No drink day for me yesterday. Was really hard but OH was really supportive, and kept me plied with tea, coffee ( both decaff) and water laced with lemon all night. Had to take painkillers to sleep though - its amazing how much pain there is now there no alcohol to numb it.!!!!!

    take care everyone

heres to another no drink day

  • well done, really well done.
I didn't sleep much either, but for different reasons.
    xx
p.s I rang the warden at my dad's place, and she buzzed him throught the intercom, and i heard him reply in a pretty normal sort of way, and she has promised to keep her eye on him.

    Hi nightmare
The sleep will get better, it takes time for your body to get back to normal, but it will start to sleep deeper in a while.

Jacd, glad your OH is supportive, make sure you give them the thanks for hepling you they deserve.

Nicolaspets, I hope it gets better for you now and it really was a blip.

Just a big up to everyone else :D

    Thanks Beer..
I think my booze habit sounds like nothing compared to some of the poor people on this thread, but it is nice to tell someone that its bothering me..:o

My main concern is my health. I work away from home a lot and its hard not to have a pint or three in the hotel bar with my evening meal.
  • What do people think about quitting booze all together..?
I mean ,is that the best way, or can I, should I allow myself treats on weekends..

Or does that make me sound like I am allready thinking of my next drink:confused:

I am actually not sure that I want to be teetotal, but I do drink a lot more than everybody I know and it embarrases me a bit.

If you think you can just have the odd drink and it works, fine. I don't, as I'm scared if I have one I'll go back to how I was 8 months ago. But that's me.

I havent gone totally back to the way i was. Got to admit i drank more than i wanted on christmas day. New yrs eve i was totally sober though. For me i cant go back to drinking the amount i was drinking before i joined this thread. I just cant as i know i have said beffffffffoorrrrrrrrreeeeee zzzzzzzzz, I am boring everyone:)

But am going to do the not drinking Monday to Friday still. You actually get used to it. You just have to try not to binge drink at the weekend. Something i am still learning about:)
