Hi all, just did a do, 20 ish families in the local hall, not a problem, this no drinking lark, not a problem:rolleyes: :D

    nicolaspets, feel for you hun.

Did you say 35 years:eek: To be blunt, shouldn't he be dead! He's made his bed and perhaps now is the time to let him sleep in it.

Then again, he's your dad, I can't give you any more advice than has already been given. Apart from, your children have to come first, you and your partner second and sadly your dad in last place.

You have to give him the options, he knows where he's been in the past, now he has two choices, more of the same, closely followed by death. Or a family based life, with pain, for him.

I think leaving him until Wednesday is a bad thing. But I don't see how you can deal with him yourself. Can you get social services involved. Do the AA do a mobile hit squad.

I'm sorry I've been no help at all. Good luck and I hope it works out for you, your children and you dad.

    Al

"The" AA will i would think have some1 close who would go and do a 12th step call, however it needs to when he is ready.
If you got on wellin the al anon chat room then maybe you should think about trying the face to face meetings my wife goes.

what does your dad think about AA?

it sounds like me when ive been into detox before and lasted months and months before tricking myself into thinking i could controll drinking. or just have one, which i never could.

Really the best thing to do is try and get him to a meeting.. try reading this

Ps happy new year to you all!!!!

i went to a party tonight and it was all good every1 but me was drinking but i didnt feel woblry once, ol' holy hands was with me the whole way....

Jayne, alcohol is a depressant ;)

Always a shame to see a year go.

But, you, I and the rest, have a whole new year, a year to not get !!!!!! all the time, a year not to embaress our children, by being drunk, all other ways still apply ;)

To save the cash and have a holiday, a new necklace, a new car.

The way I'm looking at it, 2006 was the year I realised I was an alcoholic !!!!!!, 2007 is the year I make amends and look to a brighter, better future.

Now I should really go to be, this is making me dizzy:o

Morning everyone :) Just wanted to say Happy New Year :)

Dawned on me last night that I'd done rather well in not drinking for a while, feeling proud of myself :) Sure beats that agonising guilt I used to feel!
