Honestly I don't know if I could drink as a "normal" person.

I've taken the choice to not even try, because what I have isn't worth the risk.

I might not have been an alcoholic, just someone who drinks a lot with a problem

Just wanted to say thanks for the Al Mac, that sums up alot of what I'm telling myself to help me stay drink free - I'm not labelling myself as anything, I'm just not willing to risk drinking.
Oh, and its day 12 smoke and drink free :)

  • I'll apologise in advance for the ramble;)

Drink free from 1/12/06 so far:D

By yesterday, I was feeling rather pleased with myself.....felt I'd done well so far....then came a day in work, which by the end of I wanted a drink.....

I spent the time waiting for the bus and the journey home talking myself in and out of wanting a drink....if this bus comes first I'll be ok 'cos it goes nowhere near the offey...if that one comes first I'll have to walk past it and will I have the willpower...oh sod it I want a drink..no you don't you are doing well........ I must look like a nutter to some people at times:D

Anyway, ended up on bus that meant I would have to walk passed offey...had decided sod it....I want a drink......only to find a gang of gobshite youths hanging about directly outside the offey causing a nuisance....so I didn't go in:D .....got home to find numerous letters off my mum who is relapsing at the mo...manic depressive...thinks people are beating her up and trying to poison her...again..my stress levels started to rise.....wanted a drink....didn't want to go back out to offey in case yobs still there...so I didn't:D

Today, felt the same again.....but talked myself out of it on the way passed the offey.....got home and realised I needed to go out for stuff....shop is next to offey:rolleyes: ...thought oh I'll just get a 'small' drink....then my sis rang and mentioned about my brother.......who is now back on antabuse meds to stop him drinking..........that took the edge off...didn't want a drink after that:T

    Anyway....on that note...hope everyone is ok.....take care;)

Chris, that was a nice ramble, I liked it.
That shows what so many of us go through, the knife edge choices, of drinking or not, so easy to fall one way or another.
