Ever wonder why she hates it when you drink, You are not her Mum when you have. See it from her point of view. She doesn`t want to see her Mum out of her head every day. You are hurting her every day you do it. Sorry to be blunt but thats how it is.  Timberlake Hussy Clique Member No 3  :drool:0

My teenage daughters don't really notice whether Ive drank or not. I don't get whingy at them or anything. I know people who get really argumentative when they drink but I don't. Ive told my husband to let me know if I get like that because its horrible.0

My teenage daughters don't really notice whether Ive drank or not.My eldest hates me when I have had too much to drink, she is 16!!
The drink eggagerates how I feel, so I may be happy and silly or very very jealous or when irtcomes to my kids, I winge about how they dont appreciate me!!
You really need to understand that it does affect everyone around you. The drink either makes everything seem good or everything seem bad. When you are acting silly do you think your kids find it funny. I doubt it, they are just looking at Mum and wishing you wouldn`t drink as much.  Timberlake Hussy Clique Member No 3  :drool:0 -

Hello Al
Well done to you and Mrs Mac for your continuing journey:T
You know what teenagers are like, They don`t really need an excuse to bite half of the time but all I am trying to say is give the kids a little more credit. They are not stupid, They know when you are in the toilet chucking your guts up time and time again, They know that everyone thinks that thier parent is a laugh a minute (It`s not funny when your parent makes a complete fool of themselves time after time)
They know when they look you have had a drink even if you think you are "Normal" the longer the drinking goes on for the less you care about anyone elses feelings. Because any excuse to have a drink becomes your way of life.
That is until you finally get to the day when you know it has to stop. No using other people or situations as an excuse to hit the bottle because you decided to deal with all the demons you were trying to chase away.

I personally don't get really drunk so that Im being silly or falling about. Ive just asked my 19 year old if she notices when Ive had a drink (she's not afraid to speak her mind, so she's not just humouring me!) and she said she can't tell. Believe me, I would hear from her if she found it a problem!!!
The only reason I want to cut down is for health reasons. If my behaviour was affecting my family I would have done this ages ago. I know what its like to deal with people who are so drunk they don't know what they're saying to you, pick arguments and then forget all about it the next day (whilst you're still upset about it!) so if I was like this I would stop because I know how awful it is to be on the receiving end!0 -

Beachbeth, Its fantastic that you have realised that you may be drinking a bit to often and are worried about your health. You dont have to be roaring drunk everynight to denote an alchohol problem. Just the need or the want of an excuse to have one spells danger signs.  Timberlake Hussy Clique Member No 3  :drool:0 -
You're right, Mariauk. I just wondered what you do when you start to crave that first glass. Do you just end up eating instead?0

Its a personal thing how you beat that first glass. I'm not that good at it, but getting better. I've just got to try and rationalise things and remind myself that it isn't a good idea. I always take things too far once I have that first drink, so I've got to remember that I CAN'T drink. Good luckStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

I speak as someone who has been affected by alchohol because of my Mum having an addiction to drink. Thats why I could give you an insight into how it feels as a child/adult of a parent who drinks. I know a few people have taken to chocolate as your body craves the sugar that you take away through not drinking. Exercise is also a good way of taking your mind off of it. I am sure ac and Al (Amongst others) will be able to help you through.
Good Luck :A
Maria
