I took one of my 17 yr old daughters for a curry today. The manager brought us a complimentary drink with the coffee. Never happened when I was drinking.Daughter had one and couldn`t be persuaded to have the other.Good for her - with luck,I may not have passed this disease on.

You're right, Mariauk. I just wondered what you do when you start to crave that first glass. Do you just end up eating instead?

    Agreed.

But every person goes through their own steps to get there, hopefully:o

Also agree.I used to go without alcohol for a month and,on one occaision,a year to `prove` that I didn`t have a problem. It was pointed out in rehab that normal drinkers don`t have to prove anything.
I never heard of the AA talking book, but I`ll find out about it - thanks.
A few years ago,at least one buiding in London had an all day meeting on Christmas day.Does anyone know if this is happening this year?
  • I have no idea about an AA meeting on Christmas Day but if you are planning on spending the day in London why not check and see if the Zoo is open, our Zoo is open on Christmas Day and its a different, healthy way to spend the day out in the fresh air :)

feeling good ive been reading over your post's ask your mum what the 12th step of her program is. she wont be angry. no1 can tell if you have a problem but you, however your posts seem to be a lot like my old thinking before things really went down hill. alcoholism only gets worse it dont get any better im here if you want help. meetings are good for me a room of people all with the same thinking as me i finally felt apart of something. question: once you take the first drink do you ever wonder why you cant stop?
