    I speak as someone who has been affected by alchohol because of my Mum having an addiction to drink.

    My parents drink far too much too. My mum gets quite nasty with it and its upsetting. So I do know what thats like. I don't really take after my mum so Im hoping that I won't get like that. If ever it happens then I just won't let myself drink enough to go round upsetting people. Its strange because my whole family drink (they're not all alcoholics!) and yet I have 1 brother who can't even have a sip because it makes him ill for days. He has a complete intolerance to alcohol!

    i also have an intolerance to alcohol !!!!!!!! :D
    or allergy !!!! :D

    its like a pringle addiction......

    once i pop i cant stop...... ;)

    its the first drink that makes me drunk..... cause i cant
    DOOOOOOOOOOOO one drink

    tiss all or nothink with me....

    .........................................

    i use to get i burning yerning feeling about 9pm...... as
    if i WAS missing somethink...... that was my routine i guess....
    when the kids were in bed the vodka came out :rolleyes: .....

    i now learnt its your head thats messing with you....
    your body cannot crave wot it aint got !!....
    it takes 3 days clean for all the alcohol of your last session to
    leave your body.......after this time.. if your craving/wanting
    a drink its ya head ................

    this is a very dangerous and very controlling illness........

    alcoholism is the third biggest death rated illness atm...
    (cancer and heart desease the other two)

    if anyone reading this thread thinks they have a problem
    they should not hesitate to talk to someone...........

    but thats wot alcoholics do.. hesitate.... and not face problems
    stopping is only the start.......

    hope everyone is well xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    hi.....

    ive come to turms with my second biggest demon....

    in my heart i no the marriage is over... and
    if i dont do something about it i will be back on the booze.....

    so... for someone whos always put others before herself
    and never really done anything selfish or just for me....
    i have to do the one biggest selfish act in the whole wild world.....because I cant go on like this.....

    ironey at its best i think........ xx

    ive been in this situation alot lately and backed down
    from it when its come to the crunch.....
    but this time its different :rolleyes: ... i no its not doing anyone any favours by prolonging it.....and in the end......hiding behind hurting the kids will make it worse for them in the long run xxx

    Hi ac, :):)

    Haven't come across your posts for a while.

    I don't think it's selfish to leave your husband because all the time you're unhappy the kids will sense that. As you're sober you'll be able to arrange it all the better beforehand.

    You'll always have support here if you need it.
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........

  • As its Sunday morning ac I'm trying to think of a hymn that might help, however I can't right now and don't want everyone in floods of tears again :o

    Like the alcohol, one step at a time, none of it will be easy you just need to ask GP that question but she'll also tell you how good she feels about herself having started her new life on her own.

    As Fran says you'll get the support here as no-one wants to see you back on the booze after coming so far and doing so well.

    You only get one shot at this life, so do the best for YOURSELF and your kids and you'll be okay!

    take care xx

  • Just had a quick search for something suitable for Harvest Thanksgiving and couldn't really find anything but this one is an old favourite of mine from childhood so lets sing a long for ac today as she is one of the "good gifts around us" :)

    We Plough The Fields And Scatter Hymn

    We plough the fields and scatter
    The good seed on the land,
    But it is fed and watered
    By God's almighty hand:
    He sends the snow in winter,
    The warmth to swell the grain,
    The breezes and the sunshine,
    And soft, refreshing rain.

    Refrain:
    All good gifts around us
    Are sent from heaven above;
    Then thank the Lord,
    O thank the Lord,
    For all his love.

    He only is the maker
    Of all things near and far;
    He paints the wayside flower,
    He lights the evening star;
    The winds and waves obey him,
    By him the birds are fed;
    Much more to us, his children,
    He gives our daily bread.

    We thank thee then, O Father,
    For all things bright and good,
    The seed time and the harvest,
    Our life, our health, our food.
    Accept the gifts we offer
    For all thy love imparts,
    And what thou most desirest,
    Our humble, thankful hearts.
