  • Hi, I have just been into my local Tesco in Huntingdon Cambs, looking for the Fragrance offer. Picked up the Lanvin Oxygen which was priced up at £8 on the shelf with 500 extra points. Took to the checkout where I was charged £14.50. Straight off to customer services where with their double money back if they overcharge you, I was refunded £13. So fragrance for £1.50, extra clubcard points and extra money in my purse, I am very happy. MANY THANKS MARTIN!!!
P.s there are still about 20 packs of this fragrance still on the shelf

OK...I'm new to this whole thing so could someone explain if the following is possible?

The perfume costs £8 and for that you get 500 points, or £20 worth of rewards?

Airmiles can be purchased at 60 miles for every £2.50 of clubcard rewards. So for that bottle of perfume, you can get 480 miles.

A return flight to New York is 5000 miles.

Therefore if you were to buy 11 bottles of perfume, at £88, you would be able to get enough miles to fly return to New York??? Seems too good to be true.. Is it?

I paid £14.50 as well yesterday. Looking at Martin's list there wold appear to be two bottles, each giving 500 points. Lanvin Oxygen 30ml is £8.00 while Lanvin Oxygene 30ml is £14.50. Bizarre!

    Not quite.

The 500 points are worth £5.00 (at face value) and it is this value that are converted to Air Miles.

In your example, one bottle gives 500 points which could buy 2 x 60 Airmiles = 120. So 11 bottles would give you 1320 Air Miles.

The £20 figure quoted is the spending power of 500 points in the Clubcard Book. You could for example buy 11 bottles and use your 5500 points as £220 of a holiday or to buy theme park tickets etc.

We took the kids to Barbados for a week in May, all inclusive, paid for entirely by Tesco.
  • Ive just been to Tesco and it is £14.50 on the shelf and I got them to scan it and the price came up £14.50 so they must have put all the prices up, this is at the Batley Store... :~(

I picked up a benneton cold, mens 'perfume' for £8 with 500 bonus points, & it wasn't bad either, I got myself the women's equivalent (hot!), but this was £13, still 500 bonus points though.

Walkers baked crisps are a good one, they cost £1.36 (for the plain variety, a bit more for the others), & you get 50 bonus points which, if you use as deals, are worth £2!

I generally don't think of them as worth 4x for deals though, as just about anything you get you could get for less than the 'full price' you have to pay for deals - eg all the theme parks give away 1/2 price entry vouchers almost everywhere & although I have paid for my whole summer holiday with points, if I had 'paid' properly, it would have cost less than the price I paid in clubcard points.

Not quite. This is one of Tesco's sneaky tricks, like the 2 pints of milk for 86p with 25 points a couple of weeks ago. Very hard to spot on the yellow label.

You actually have to buy 2 x 6 packs of Walkers Baked Crisps to earn an extra 50 points. This equates to £2.72, less £2.00 of points (assuming 4x multiple) so you get 12 packs of healthy crisps for 72p, or 6p a pack.

With anything between 4 and 9 kids and teenagers in the house at any one time, I've cleared a few shelves at our local Tesco :)

    Martell Prestige Brut Non-Vintage 75cl - £26.98
800 extra clubcard points valid from 22/07/09 to 18/08/09

Another good points booster here. A bit pricey but if you're buying champagne anyway you might as well get the extra 800 points for spending £26.98 (5% less if buying 6 bottles). £150 worth of champagne will give me £192 worth of holiday vouchers plus I get to drink the champagne or keep it for Christmas!

I got one of those Tesco Clubcard Bonus receipts with my purchases today. 200 Extra Points if I top up my mobile by £20 before 16 August.

Last time I got one of those I only had to spend £10 on top up :(

I have just bought a new phone and had to buy £10 worth of airtime with it.

I am on PAYG and if I spend £2 in a month, I would be surprised. Anyone want a voucher :D
