  • Have been offered a good deal on world wide +usa annual travel ins from Netcoverdirect, they are aware of my previous medical history and have excluded any claims related to it ,this i accept as normal but is it also normal to have to declare medical history of travelling companion who is also my partner ( he has type 2 diabetes he has his own independent insurance and has declared this to them) Can any one advise should i accept this as normal or shop around? This company offers good deals but it can be frustrating not to be able to speak to someone ,everything is done on line, I am 68 and partner 75

many thanks to anyone who can give advice

  • Hi, Can anyone help.

I am due to travel to New York for a 3 night stay in March, and have just started trying to find some travel insurance. The problem is that I had a car accident back in July 2006, for which I was treated for Whiplash, this has cleared up, but I also developed Sciatica which is still ongoing now.

I have been treated by my GP, an Osteopath and a physiotherapist at the hospital, who has recently referred me for a MRI scan to eliminate any serious damage.

I obvoiusly need to declare this to all insurance companies even though I do not think I will have to claim for anything relating to this condition, as I've had it for 6 months now.

How much imapct is this likely to have, as other than that I'm a healthy 26yr old. Any recommendations for which insurance companies to try?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Having been quoted £2500 by Free Spirit and £850 by Saga for a three week single trip to USA I have now taken out yearly travel insurance with Global travel of Worthing for £110. There are reaonably high excess of £750 but do not have to declare pre conditions and they provide Annual cover up to 75 and single trip up to 90years.:j :T

This is my first year having to worry about "pre existing medical conditions" My wife now has one !So Ive had to rethink my usuall annual travel insurance policy strategy.

Ive decided, because weve a joint account and they accept pre existing conditions

Bank of Scotland Ultimate reward current account.
    We get
    WORLDWIDE family travel insurance
    Joint RAC cover
    Home emergency cover
Mobile phone cover (including water damage)
    multi card protection
    identity fraud insurance

Its £10 pm. Interest + balance is 6%
    free £300 overdraft @ 0% (for 3 months)
    a few other boring benefits.

Normally I wouldnt look at these deals, but IMO this one (FOR JOINT APPLICANTS) is great

My mother is 91 and needs cover for a european week away. Sjhe has a couple of minor health problems. Its very difficult to find a policy that covers the over 90s. Any ideas anyone.
  • Asda were the best quote for me - £102.00 for single trip for USA with pre-existing medical conditions. Free Spirit quoted £900.00 + £1,000.00 excess! Saga quoted £400.00 plus. My pre-existing conditions are mild angina and Parkinson's Disease. I also have type 2 diabetes, but this is not covered on this insurance because I have only been recently diagnosed, but I don't see what can go wrong with diabetes, so I am taking the risk of not being covered.

I have existing medical conditions which are not covered by our 'freebie' from alliance and leicester, so even though my husband who has no conditions is covered, I always pay the extra to add him to my policy when he takes me on holiday. The reason for this is that I cannot travel without him and if we are both covered under the same policy and anything happened to him we are guaranteed refunds, etc. If we were covered under separate policies and I could not travel, he may not be covered under his policy for my conditions.

There is always an issue with conditions of anyone travelling with you, especially if it would prevent you from travelling should they become an issue, so they have to be declared.

This is the company I always use:

I have had 4 strokes, skin cancer, back and neck injuries and thyroid disease. When we went to USA including a Caribbean cruise for our silver wedding I got cover for £106. Other quotes ranged from £600 to over £2000.
    Cheers

  • I note various comments about http://www.covermytravels.co.uk/ including one that states - have check ups every 6 months and they covered me - (not verbatim).
Strange that when I tried to obtain cover today from this Company; I have a Heart condition checked up on by Hospital every 8 months, it was refused as "we only cover clients with pre-existing Medical Conditions if they visit hospital for ANNUAL CHECKS". Anything < this no cover available.
Maybe some aren't being upfront in their answers - beware any claim likely to be refused as frequency of Hospital Check-ups is to verify.

Hi try http://www.direct-travel.co.uk for medical conditions:)

I have always used them for my holidays for years but up until the last holiday in 2005 i never told them about my Crohn's as i thought i'd take the risk of it being ok.Luckily it was.But on that trip to Costa Brava in 2005 i told them and it stayed the same rate as if i hadn't which was a family cover single trip to Europe and it only cost something like £17.50 i think. We are going back to the same place at the end of May and this time thought they have double it to £35..still a decent price though.:money:
