OH has hypertension - regulated by medication and no changes for the last 4 years.

I've had only 1 quote so far from the AA (£109). They were one of the best companies when I used a compare site at £48 for a normal quote. Any ideas on where to go? I'm sure I only paid about £50 for the last trip with the post office but their normal quote is £96 so I can only imagine what they'd add on to this.

No, I don't think it's classed as pre-existing. But, they probably won't want to insure you if you are travelling specifically for medical treatment.

When I called the AA for my quote, one of the questions they asked was if the purpose of the trip was to obtain medical treatment......

Thanks, £91 - OH thinks Post Office quote is ok and that it covers hypertension in standard policy and I get cashback from quidco so might have to go with Post Office.

EGG did travel insurance in november for my sister who is 78. Two weeks cost 38.02

I have just gone back to Egg for some of their services but I doubt they will want to give me a competitive quote or even cover me. I spent days on this last year and the quotes ranged from £150 (no medical cover) to £500. One had a £5000 excess. In the end I bought a single trip cover for 10 nights in the Med with no cover for my pacemaker but cover for prosthetic heart valve and it cost £75 approx. I wrote about this last week as Help the Aged had given me full cover but wanted me to renew in April last year when we were not going until Sept. Their annual policy was only £120 for two of us. When I asked again in Sept they excluded mymedical problems. We are both aged 70. I will try Egg, maybe I will get a good quote. I have a list of the many companies who specialise in covering older people with medical problems if anyone wants them.

Bear in mind that you can get free or reduced cost healthcare in most EEC countries. However, this reciprocal arrangement between member states does not cover the cost of repatriation.

Can anyone advise in insurance for a mediterranean cruise? My existing insurance with travelinsurance web is about to expire, but when I went onto confused to do a search for a good price, one of the assumed bits at the start was - this cover is not for a cruise.

Does this mean I need specialist insurance?

    Thanks

I'm just looking for insurance myself and I noticed that gotravelinsurance are offering special cruise insurance for under 55s. 15% back through quidco too!

Steve-xx Yes, I did know that and discovered that some people think in the event of a person dying in Spain for example it could be a good idea to have a cremation there - i.e. if they were not covered for the relevant medical problem.

i'm currently looking for annual travel insurance for my mum - searching loads and loads but need a bit of advice

she will be taking it out in the next couple of weeks, and she currently is 64 however she turns 65 in january 2008. i know that travel insurance goes up when you are 65 but i'm getting quotes now that are really cheap.

would she be ok taking out insurance now, surely the computer can recognise that she'll be 65 in 6 months or so????

she won't have to pay a higher premium in january will she?

any advice would be gratefully received.
