Thanks turfy! The issue is with a birth we have in 1788, "in the parish of St Mary’s, in the town and county of Meath, Ireland", by the name of James Lappin. The quote is taken directly from his discharge papers (from the British army) in 1819.
Trouble is, while there's still a county of Meath, there's no town of Meath - the county town of Co. Meath is called Trim, as far as I know, and there's no record I can find of it ever being called Meath itself. Not from here, anyway.
I didn't mean to load this onto you:o:o it just slipped out while I was typing after reading about your family..... if you can do anything, that would be brill.
Do you need anything looking up on ancestry? I'm not a member myself, but my city has a library membership, so if I book some free time on a library computer, I can log in to ancestry, which has been really helpful in sorting things out for my sister. Let me know if you do want anything.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Will check that out for you KC and see if I can come up with anything. Re the ancestry its ok I kinda share a membership with a friend, this works well i just have the p/words etc and use it when I can, then next year I will pay for the membership and she will use mine, very mse you know;)Visa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Right then bank holiday monday, washing in and we had bbq with friends last night which was nice but I think the diet suffered a wee bit. Back on it today though as I can really feel the difference in just a week.
Moneywise not much happening OH has given me a bit towards the shopping and Im helping with the car money, so we can rid that as quickly as poss. On to concentrating on the barclaycard then. I have to get shut of that then I will really feel like Im getting somewhere.
Off for a cuppa and hang the washing out before the clouds come. Enjoy your bank holiday monday folks.:TVisa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Loan 1 €[STRIKE]4885[/STRIKE] now 0. Loan 2 €29,590 now €0 as of 22/02/2016 Mgage €55000/ €23,639 at 01/02/18

You're focussing, turfy, and that'll get you where you need to go, I'm sure. Glad you're taking hold of the diet as well - you're obviously going in the right direction overall, but just need to come back to it.
Have a good one - and thanks for the Meath/Trim thing, even if you can find a linkie that could really help - its my maternal line all the way back, the anonymous Mary who married James is my 4 x great grandmother!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi lucielle, have around £1600 left on the barclaycard, not bad really considering it was £5200 this time last year so I shouldnt feel so bad. Will be glad once the car is paid off and then I can be left to concentrate on the rest.
Sun is shining again and radio is full of our dear presenter who died on Fri, Im really going to miss him.
