I did it again last night as well after a long break. My skin feels a bit greasy today but my nose is already losing the "strawberry" look from open/congested pores :)

Silly question maybe - but should I take my make-up off first?
    Thank you all who post.

No need, the oils are the best make up remover you will ever get - even the most stubborn of waterproof mascara will shift once massaged off with the oils

    :mad::confused::(:(:(:huh:
August and September are seriously bad skin months... especially this week... lots of clusters of giant spots... all very itchy, oily & rough forehead :( and nothing seems to be making it better. Have been trying OCM but have had lots going on (moving house) so keep missing several days at a time.. so I don't know if that would help or not at the moment.

Trying the antibiotics again that the docs had given me a prescription for a while ago but they're making me feel ill.
Has anyone got a magic wand or a miraculous overnight cure?

  • I don't know if this will help anyone. But i have very oily skin with blocked pores and i find that using aspirin as a face mask really helps. I have been doing it for over a year. I grind up aspirin into a paste and add a tiny drop of water to form a paste and put that on my face for 20 minutes and do that a few times a week (less if you have sensitive skin) It makes my skin glowy and soft and my pores are smaller and scars/spots are quicker to heal. I love it!!!

Sometimes i add a bit of honey to the mix as this is a good exfoliant also. Some people put yogurt in it instead.

If you google it there is quite a lot of info. Or go on Make up alley and search for the reviews.

Hope this helps. I am interested in the Castor oil idea...thanks for the info everyone :)

Ooo yea, I'd seen someone else used Asprin as a mask or as an exfoliating wash... but I'd forgotten until you mentioned again. I might try it at the weekend.

I've gone and bought myself some Quinoderm facewash to cheer myself up... (I wanted Panoxyl but they didn't sell the wash...) hopefully it'll clear my spots up a little more so I can get back to thinking about how to stop my skin feeling oily.

Just wondering - do you have an itchy flaky scalp as well? But only in some patches, not as in all over like dandruff

Not really no, I get dandruff but it's sorted out quickly and effectively by T-Gel. It's not itchy unless I get a spot or a bite.

To anyone who has acne prone skin:
I've been using PanOxyl facewash since my last ranting post about how rubbish my skin was at the moment.... and it's working sooooo well!
In just 4 days its calmed my spots down no end, they're mostly disappeared (apart from the red scars... but even they have improved) and it appears to somehow be sorting the oilyness of my skin out too... I noticed today how it was far less oily than it has been in a long time. (I've also swapped back to using Neutrogena Oil-free moisturiser too so that might have something to do with it)

It may not be ideal for everyone because it's quite high in concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide, which is quite strong... but my skin does seem to be quite resiliant and isn't being adversly affected by me using it even twice a day on occasion. (They say to use it once a day, but I'm having no problems using it more often at the moment)
I think once the last lot of spots I have been getting recently have mostly disappeared I am going to switch back to using Quinoderm daily and using Panoxyl once or twice a week.

I've held off OCM for now, and am not going to try it until my skin has calmed down a little more.
