As ALR has experienced, the clay worked short term for me and my face was producing the oil slick by lunchtime

Even the clay based face powders designed to be worn on top of foundation didnt work for long and just ended up caking around the nose.

The trouble with anything designed to dry the face, the oil producers fight back by producing more oil so its a vicious circle. Break that cycle by persevering with the mildest gentlest formulations you can find and you may indeed find that you have normal skin after a few months

I've been using Baby wipes to take my make up off over the past week or so, from a suggestion on one of these forums (poss the Sheer Cover/ MMU Discussion thread) They're working pretty well, they remove all of my make-up with little effort (which is good as I tend to be heavy handed when removing make-up in the evening.... to try and make sure I have got it all off) Baby oil is also good for removing stubborn eye make-up. I prefer the wipes though as I don't so much like my eyes feeling oily.

I've even used the wipes in the morning after having a shower to slightly cleanse my face before I apply make-up... sometimes without putting moisturisor on as well. They seem to make a great, very pure cleanser. As I say, I've only been using them for a week or so so can't say for sure that it's helping my skin to stop producing so much oil, but I'll keep going and let you know.
I'm trying all sorts at the moment!!

After spending too long thinking about OCM and reading about I started this on Tuesday night for the first time - it's wonderful! Yesterday I seemed to be continually stroking my own face :o and particularly my nose and the 'sore' parts of my chin as all was smooth, no dry skin, no oil build-up during the day and all moisturised.

Sometimes somethings defy belief and go against the grain of what we are led up garden paths to buy.

My skin is very sensitive, reactive and I have roscea with very oily patches and very dry (and sometimes sore) patches from side of my nose down to my mouth and on each side of my chin. Gone... not there... vanished.

So did it again last night and today is the same result.

Suspend your doubts - get the cheap stuff and give it a try. Castor oil is almost impossible to buy but it seems to be the 'magic' ingredient so it's worth the effort.

    Thanks for the tips!

Where did you manage to get your Castor Oil from?

I am back at my parents (South West) next week so am going to try shops down there to see if it is just a North Western thing not to even have heard of Castor Oil!

Gers, you have taken the words right out of my mouth. I too wasn't prepared to give it a try until Suki pointed out to me just how easy it was. I tried it for the first time last night and although I'm a bit oily today definitely saw the results after I'd done it. My forehead which is the culprit definitely looked better so I am going to persevere with it (despite my husband continually laughing at me whilst I was rubbing it into my face :p).

I got a list of local pharmacies from a web search and just rang a bunch of them. The first one that said 'yes' was the one I went to - this was after a couple of visit to Boots (see earlier posting about that one) so took the easy way out. I got a couple of bottles from them to save another search.

Im so glad to hear you ladies are seeing results already

Lynsey, if you dont see an improvement with the oiliness in the next two or three uses, up the amount of caster oil in your mix. Im now after a good few months use on about 40/60 after starting at 30/70 and originally haveing to go down to 20/80. The first few weeks are a bit of trial and error, after that - easy peasy

I dyed my hair last night so done the massage then left the oil on whilst waiting and my face was glowing today.(and the gunk that was building in me pores just oozed with a slight push) Most days as I say I use it just as a quick cleanse - rub in and wipe off - done in minutes

Now you are showing your youth :)

Use kids of the 60s were often given a spoonful to keep us regular - its a laxitive.

Most chemists now sell it behind the counter because of the old wives tale of a spoonful in orange to bring on a labour

Thanks Suki, I will give it a couple more goes as it is and then add some more caster oil if needs be. Was actually trying to get my head round it today and wondering which I would need more of so thanks for clearing that up for me.
