my mum had elocution lessons when she was little and corrected any pronunciation or grammer mistakes I made as I grew up. I find myself shouting at the tv when people are making silly mistakes :rotfl: I was bulied at school for being 'posh':o But I didn't realise it was bullying until I asked my mum to explain why the girls and boys comments weren't funny and didn't make sense, yet everyone else found them hilarious - I just thought they were rather stupid :p:rotfl:
    :rotfl:They probably were!!:rotfl:

Don't worry honey, Fergus would never tell you to shuddup!!

thanks all for the lovely boosting comments :)

    Erm, quick favour....

Anyone willing to give me a waist measurement for a little girls skirt 12-18 months ish?

Googling has not been fruitful, as all the manufacturers seem to give a height and a weight rather than a size! Becles/susan have you got anything handy from when charlotte or alice were that size? Fergie's going to a birthday party and I'm making his friend charlotte a skirt :)

re: having a baby girls - apparently testosterone has a part to play. this would make sense for us as DH was on a lot of protein supplements and stuff (not entirely sure what!) due to his hard rugby training schedule and when he heard this he was sure that's why we had a Little girl.

I would have another if I could guarantee a boy and I'd do it for hubby. TBH I'm quite happy with one for now and it won't be the end of my world if we can't have any others or decide not to....but I'm not saying never right now. I just want to enjoy this baby and see where we end up.

well - time for my essay now :D

we've had 4 nights of unbroken sleep - approx 7.30/8pm right through till 6am PLUS two good daytime naps as well. My analysing leads me to think no one factor has helped, more a combination of me being consistent (thanks savvy-sue), increasing her weaning schedule, being more relaxed when she doesn't sleep, and her developing and being more active all of a sudden. But it could just be she decided to do it herself ;)

awaiting my highchair to be delivered today :D then hopefully we can get out and about while the rain is holding off. I have my sister staying to 'help' me. So far she has got up at 10am and has helped by watching ITNG :rotfl: Oh well....

Don't feel dejected.....it is much harder looking after other peoples kids in your house than it is your own, or even looking after them in their own house. It is all exciting for them to be in a new house with someone other than their parents and they often (usually) take advantage of this situation, no matter how nice the children are!

If you are concerned about how you feel you would cope with Fergie as he is growing up and possibly other children of your own, don't be. Your owm children will be accustomed to how they can behave and what they can and can't touch within the family home.....this does get ignored quite often but you will establish rules and consequences with your own children that just can't be in place with 'other' children.

What she said. Your own children grow gradually to that age so you have time to gradually adapt. You have raised them so they are used to your standards and to doing what they are told by you.

Often children aren't tuned in to another person or just aren't used to being told what to do by someone else (and obeying that someone else). (For example when people ask Alice questions, I usually have to repeat the question to get her to answer - it's like she's not programmed to respond to other people.)

Also children do behave differently in other people's houses. At home we have loads of unsuitable things within Alice's reach but she leaves them alone. Presumably this is because 1. she's learnt she has to and 2. they are everyday normal therefore not so interesting. At other people's houses I always have to watch her like a hawk if there are ornaments within reach and when I take her to the toilet she always tries to grab anything on the sink (like soap, nail brush etc) even though we have the same things at home which she never goes for. Also the excitement/novelty of being somewhere different or with someone different can make children go a bit wild/hyperactive.

Another thing is that you develop little rules in your own house to avoid certain problems which you don't have in place already for a one off visit so for example if getting mud on the toys was a problem you would probably have a rule that shoes were only put on for going outside.

Also you said one of them is a special needs child and based on my experience working with special needs children, they can be a lot more difficult to deal with and are more adversely affected by change than the average child.

Thank you. :) Yes, and his little sister copies him because she doesn't realise. The eldest also struggles to understand adults feelings and boundaries, and is getting some help with this at the moment.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if I bit off more than most people could cope with in my situation! :)
