HEY!!! Benjamin is not bald - he is just VERY blonde :D

I think we are showing our age when we call em pammy boobies - the young 'uns don't know who we are talking about...these days I guess they would be Jordan Baps or something

Shall I bring my ironing up?
    :o

No thank you, i have quite enough of my own!

Shall I rephrase my earlier post?
Are Me, MFD and now Caz the only ones with babies who's heads are visible through their very fine, fair fluff?
I want a baby who looks like they're wearing a toupee! :rotfl:

Its such a shame that when you finish b/feeding, the boobs can't stay in their full state! They look so much more perky! :D

LOL - when Benjamin was crowning the MW said 'we've got a baldy' and hubby (in very bad taste) said 'well at least he's not ginger' and then died of embarrassment when he looked at our very lovely but very red-headed midwife :rotfl:

You mean, when Benjamin has had enough my love muffins will no longer point to the sky???

Hi ladies, Sorry - another moan! I've been told by my childminder today that Caitlyns' place will become available in September. Because I'm not goin back to work until April I'll have to pay a retainer of £30 per week. That's 7 months at £120 per month. I know that she's not earning money for the place, but I'd got no idea I'd have to pay that amount from September. She has said that if anyone else uses the place in the meantime then she'll charge them instead of me. I don't expect her to lose out because of me, but it's just something else to come along that needs paying for! I had thought that it would mean I would have to go back to work early, but actually if I do that I will be earning £22 per month more, but paying out £180 per month more. So I'm still better off waiting until April.

Right that feels a bit better. Caitlyn is fast asleep at the minute for a change! Normally I can't put her down for long before she starts crying. I've had her in the sling this morning again while I went into work to see a few more people. I fed her once whilst there and she been asleep ever since - heaven!

I've been debating whether to use a dummy with her. She just won't settle if she's with anyone else except me, and sometimes not even with me. I can have fed her, changed her and she still won't be happy. If I offer her the breast again she'll just 'chew' on the end and not really feed, so just uses it as a comforter. But I'm worried about it affecting the breastfeeding. DH hasn't been really helpful in saying he thinks it's because her hunger isn't being satisfied and that we should try bottle feeding her. I've been so proud of the fact I've breastfed longer than a week, and his comment just put me down again. My friends at work said not to listen to what anyone said - she's my baby and if I want to give her a dummy then I should. It's not everyone else who's at home all day looking after her.

Sorry for such a long moan! Thanks for listening :o

Childminder - if that is the one you want then TBH it does sound like she is being reasonable :o

The sucking - we have ALL been through this. It is not because baby is hungry (usually) it is because they want comfort and closeness. There are different schools of thought...some people just accept it as a phase that they go through and are happy to be a human dummy for a while, others (like me) find it really draining (especially in the evening - it was alway worst in the evening) and needed to get baby off. I think it is particularly tough if your nipples are sore.

Benjamin wouldn't take a dummy for a long time (unless we actually held it in his mouth!!) and he didn't until about 12 weeks but this is when he started to settle himself and now we can put him down awake...

I AM a dummy snob...part of me still hates the fact that he has one...but if it helps him to get himself to sleep then it has got to be worth it. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future to try and break the habit.

A friend of mine had a boob job after she'd stopped feeding cos not only were they all saggy but she'd dropped 2 cup sizes.

I also have a baby baldy (or very fine blondie which makes her look baldy in photos)

That sounds a bit of a con. Is she such an amazing childminder or are they so hard to come by that it is really necessary to pay out for seven months before you actually use her? Is it normal to have to pay that much in advance? (I think ClaireJones is a childminder so she might be able to say whether that is normal practice.)

Pinkpig I tried a dummy with Ed at a few weeks but he wouldn't take it. Tell you're hubby to keep his opinion on your BFing to hmself until he's read up on the subject! You're doing fab, stick with it and you'll be so pleased you did! (I know I am)

the childminder subject; you could take the risk, not pay a retainer and leave it to nearer the time and hope there's still a place
