Dylan has decided to be a spoilt mummies boy today ! He will only go to sleep or stop crying if I am holding him. He doesnt want his daddy, sister or the bouncer etc... just me !!!
Is it wrong that I am loving it ???? :o

Leila is being a mummys girl today and is currently hoisted on my shoulder. I was secretly pleased earlier when I picked her up and she immediately stopped crying and just smiled at me!

I took the leap and decided to go to our local b00bie group held at a nearby church today. Me and Leila were all ready by 10am and turned up at the church ready for her breakfast. Unfortunately ......it was the wrong church

I completely embarassed some poor man at reception when I asked where the breastfeeding was taking place. He almost fell off his chair! He told me it might be at the main church but this was the YMCA and there was definately no breastfeeding going on there!

I went to the main church but it was deserted. So I fed Leila in the car getting funny looks from some builders all the while and we then went to Waitrose to buy chocolate to console ourselves!

    Hi ladies!

I am, at last, taking the plunge and joining you lot after "graduating" from the pregnancy club!

I am a first time mum and my daughter Bronwen Elizabeth was born on the 6th July weighing 7lbs 9oz by ventouse delivery. It wasn't the easiest birth and we spent 6 days in hospital - I had to have a blood transfusion due to excessive blood loss during delivery, but she was worth it all!
(I will write up my full birth story soon, but I haven't had the time or energy!)

    http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt254/ruthienewp/BronwenandDaddy.jpg

I stopped breast feeding after just 4 days as Bronwen lost a lot of weight because she wouldn't latch properly, so I gave in and gave her formula (she is now gaining weight very well).
I have a quick question for any other mummies that are formula feeding. Do you make up each feed one at a time (as the guidelines say you should) or do you make them up in advance? I was thinking of having bottles of boiled water ready in the fridge so that i can just add the formula to it when needed - or am I just being a bad, lazy mummy? :o

I look forward to getting to know you all soon and I will probably have lots of questions to ask you.

    TIA, Ruth AKA mollythewestie, x
    Congrats MTW :D
With Chris I started off doing the water thing but in the end I just made up the feeds in advance and kept them in the fridge
please note: I am in no way endorsing not following guidlines that are there for good reason ;)
    I LOVE her name x

Depends how long you want it to last. I doubt a Secondary School aged child would be too keen on it. If it's repaintable then it could just be repainted when he's older.
I want it to be ok for at least the next 5yrs 10 would be nice tho :D, that'll be ok, right?

Congratulations, Molly and welcome to the world, Bronwen! :j(my middle name is Elizabeth ;)).

DH makes all the bottles for the day by using slightly cooled boiled water (its best to be 70 degrees due to the formula not being sterile, as far as I remember), adding the powder and then putting them in the fridge. We then warm each one when required.

BUT, this is not in accordance with the guidelines.

We use lots of cartons too for when we are out and about.

Hey MTW! welcome! lovely to see you here :)

I sterilise all the bottles, fill with cooled boiled water and refrigerate and then just add milk powder as needed. I cool one less ounce of water than I need in each bottle, then top up with 30ml of freshly boiled water then it's blood temperature in a flash!

Congratulations MTW - what a cutie :) And LOADS of hair too!

While we are STILL on the subject of bedrooms, still nothing doing here... I'm kind of recovered down below - scar tissue still there (I suppose it always will be!) and sensation free, but feeling less uncomfortable (it was rubbing against the skin that isn't sensation free and feeling really odd all the time!) but I'm not recovered in my head. The whole idea makes me go all squeemish and cringy inside. I think the problem is that I don't want to check if things work incase I find out they don't iyswim . Plus DH has been so horrible of late that half the time that I'm not interested. (Mind you, if things were better in the bedroom he might be a bit more relaxed :rotfl:) Never mind - will get there eventually I'm sure.

I feel the need to change the subject and talk about something else now, rather than ending like that. Isn't it a lovely day outside now the rain has stopped. :j

MOLLYTHEWESTIE aka Ruth Congratulations on your beautiful daughter!

I FF - I sterilise all bottles and equipment and boil the kettle then I fill the bottle to 3oz (we are on 6oz bottles) So half way with fresh cool boiled water, seal and put in the fridge. Then as baby is ready for a feed I take one from the fridge refil and reboil the kettle then add the powder.
Each feed is fresh and warm......was far to stressful waiting for the water to cool each time baby needed a feed, it was taking approx 45 mins doing it the way it says on the box! Me and Lexi were both demented!

Good luck and if you have any more questions please come back and ask us, we all love to help x

ETA Obviously this isnt how the guidelines advise us to do them, but this is the way I choose to do them.

I'ml loving the ingeniusly practial solutions the FF mum's have - clever ladies
I used to warm Chris's in the microwave (I'm soo naughty :p)
when we was refussing cows milk before bed (at around 18mths) I used to make up a fresh bottle of 4oz formula using boilling water and top it up with 5oz cows milk from the fridge he didn't notice it was moo milk and it was the right temp straight away... which reminds me I'm very proud :D Chris hasn't drank from a bottle at all this week :T He's a big boy you see ;)

Thank you for the warm welcome and all the advice regarding FF.

I am glad I am not the only one who finds making up bottles following the guidelines takes too long. I have stuck to the rules so far, but I think I will start making bottles of water up in advance from now on. My mum and MIL thought I was mad to make up each one at a time and I am inclined to agree with them!
