No bottles in fridge for me either

Used to use the ready made when we went out for ease and emergencies indoors.

I used to measure out the formula into the TT pots (sorry didnt used to Sterilise these...could see no need plus would sit them inside bottle) and then instead of boiling kettle each time, I would boil it once and then put it in a flask....let it cool down and then pop lid on to keep it warm.... didnt have to warm it up then either.....

    Just my 2p worth.....
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.

Savvy we're about 4 episodes into the latest series on ch4 it's very far fetched IMHO there were the odd things going on when I was at college but nothing like this series!! I do love Panda she is such a fab character :)
S'OK, I've checked and I think I've seen Series 3, must have been on E4.

becles, sami, redmel, 3, mfd all with parenting experience of older boys, at what age d'you think home-made clothes would be a problem? (obviously I'll ditch the baggy bums and elastic waists pretty soon!)

Erm, so what are your tips for not having a latest fashions obsessed little boy?
It is completely pot luck. Here followeth an essay.

DS1 had very firm views about what he wanted to wear from an early age - we're not talking labels here, but pre-school he wouldn't wear polo shirts or anything with a collar or buttons. He lived in tracksuits and t-shirts. At that age, some of the tracksuits had logos or characters on, but he would decide whether or not they were OK and his mind could not be changed. So you might have two fairly similar outfits, and one was fine and the other not. Oh, and he went off grandma's knitted jumpers too, not sure if that was because they didn't feel right or had buttons at the neck.

By the end of nursery, having outgrown all his tracksuits, only mono-coloured sweat shirts and jog bottoms were acceptable, AND his pants and socks had to be the same colour. So we had red days, blue days, green days and black days. T-shirts could have a logo or character on: we had lots of Lego Club t-shirts, and some with dinosaurs.

What we didn't know then was that he has mild Asperger Syndrome. Fortunately, being a 'rules-based' child, when I said "Look, this is what you will wear to school" and produced black school trousers with a zip , pale blue t-shirt and maroon sweatshirt, he was fine. When I moved him after a couple of years to a school which wore shirts  with buttons :eek: and a TIE :eek::eek: he still accepted it. Although he NEVER did his top button up, even if asked to do so, not even when he graduated the other day. :rotfl:

He still wears black or navy jog bottoms and sweatshirts, with t-shirts he's chosen himself. He has NEVER had a pair of jeans, and most of his stuff comes from supermarkets.

DS2 was far less fussy, would accept being made to look smart, and remains fairly uncaring about what he wears. He has a slightly wider range of trousers but they're all casual except the pair he wears for work, and still no jeans, he has a wider range of jumpers but they're all black or navy, and he usually chooses his own t-shirts, although he does wear the one I got from a charity shop which says "My mum says I'm cool."

DS3, on the other hand, has NO jog bottoms and wears jeans. Buying jeans is a nightmare, because you can show him two functionally identical pairs and one will be fine and the other not, he can tell this by looking at them. Also within a week they may be too short or too tight. Fortunately they don't have to be label jeans.

He buys his own t-shirts, and OCCASIONALLY, if the temperature is below freezing, he wears a plain black jumper instead of a t-shirt. He has a cagoule but never wears it. He has not possessed a coat for several years, and used to hang about for the bus in that below freezing weather in a shirt and blazer.

Oh, and he won't wear 'slips' pants, he has to have boxers. Neither of the other two will wear anything but slips.

They each have a different preference in socks as well, and when I bought DS1 a set with the days of the week on them, he would only wear them on the 'right' day.

Given that I was handing clothes down from one to the other for as long as it was acceptable and until they all got to be about the same height, you tell me what I did? :rotfl:

i banged my head earlier and it really hurts, does anyone fancy doing my ironing???

    NO:p
The boys went to school in crumpled shirts/polo t-shirts today because I couldn't be bothered to iron them. Oh well second to last day of school, I doubt anyone will care:D
Why are you guys even THINKING of ironing school uniform?

Please, do yourselves a favour. Put one child in an ironed uniform and the other in an unironed one. Leave it 10 minutes and ask someone to tell you if they can tell you which one has been ironed.

Helps if when you get things out you give them a shake and put them into their creases, IYSWIM. But it's not essential ...

Ladies do you think this wardrobe is too baby-ish?]

I've found it for £125 delivered (RRP is over £200) or do you think a plain white bog standard affair is a better idea?

It depends how long you want to keep the wardrobe for. Joshua had his room decorated when he was 10 and I don't think that wardrobe would fit into his "cool teenager" theme :o I bought plain furniture for all of mine so it will last till they leave home :money:

If you want plain furniture to look a bit more childish, you can buy Stickarounds. That's what's on the walls in Charlottes Peter Rabbit room that I posted yesterday. They're just thick plastic but the peel off the wall when the child has outgrown them. James had Bob the Builder ones on the walls for a few years and they peeled off easily and left no marks.

I am a first time mum and my daughter Bronwen Elizabeth was born on the 6th July weighing 7lbs 9oz by ventouse delivery.

    awwww - she's absolutely beautiful :)

For milk, I used to just make bottles up as and when needed. I'd boil the kettle about half hour before I thought they wanted a bottle, and then just click it on for a bit to warm it back up if it had cooled down too much. If the kettle hadn't boiled, I used to fill the bottle with boiling water and stick it in a jug of cold water to cool back down.
Here I go again on my own....

Bloody good idea - might join you! :o

Well trip into town was fine :D Mum had bought me some nursing bras and a top from Mothercare (whilst we were still staying in hospital). I never got round to trying them on and once I did and they didn't fit, it was outside the 28 day return period. However, Mum asked them today (explained why the delay) and they said it was fine and could still exchange them :D We got nappies (cheaper than Boots!) and toys with the money :)

Mum has worked in a couple of the shops in town and has friends who work in others, so she made me call in on them to show him off. Along with that and shop assistants and random passersby, I think I've said his weight about 30 times in three hours! Don't think anyone touched him or breathed too close so I'm hoping we've avoided swine flu for today.

Mum was grating on me a bit by the end of the day, I have to admit. She seems to think I need her there to settle Rhys when he's crying. I was changing him earlier and he was crying - always does when it involves having to take his clothes off - and there she was, shaking a rattle at him, saying "there, there, it's okay, granny's here" Again, she was just about to leave when the nurse arrived and then she decided to stay, shaking that bloody rattle at him when he's roaring at the injection. How exactly do you say in a polite fashion "he's my baby, I know why he's crying and I can deal with it, so *** off?!" :o

I'm off to take milk out the freezer and put the wine in the fridge!

Aww blushing Bruno :p I wonder if that is the first time you've discussed bedroom antics openly? Men don't talk to each other like that... Do they?

Not quite the first time but I think we're definitely less prone to it than you ladies :o Also I really did blush, probably unwise antics for my finance office, I scurried out sharpish :o
We definitely tired this poor baby out yesterday - she had a 2 hour nap this morning, and I put her down again about half two this afternoon, and she is still asleep... I'm working on the "not waking a sleeping baby" principle, but poor girl will be ready for her tea when she wakes up I'm sure!

Wow! She slept 2 hours and then another big nap a few hours later, I am soooo jealous ;p OH reports Elijah had one 1 hr nap today, between 7am rise and 7.30 bedtime. The little monkey.

Oh no you probably all drink white wine don't you :( the horrors. Red wine is a nicer drink, doesn't need chilling, and has diverse (debatable) health benefits over white :p get used to it!

It's White Zinfandel (rose) - does that make it any more acceptable? ;):p
