    Hi

Haven't read right back, too many pages and dinner is cooking.

Kai had his last lot of jabs today...three jabs, screamed for a minute or two and was still sobbing a bit when we were leaving.

The boys' school has swine flu, well not the school, but ykwim :(

Elle those pics are fantastic. Looking at him there you would never know he was prem...although would probably never guess he is over two months old! He loves being on his belly, doesn't he:)

    Mel x

Mrs Moc - don't worry it WILL get better and it'll at most be a couple of days before you start feeling better :) I found not letting Alexandra near my boobies for a couple of days whilst treating them helped too :) Just giving her expressed milk instead.
I feel your pain - I really really do! :) I think unless you've had it you can't possibly understand HOW painful it is because it doesn't LOOK painful at all
The gel you'll get for the baby's mouth btw will say not to use for under 3 months I think... check it with your GP but it's basically because there are very very few medications in the UK that have a license for under 12 week old babies... so they HAVE to say not to use on babies under x age. Doesn't mean they're not safe but obviously anything medical should be checked with your GP ;)

did you use the canestan cream Mrs T, its good to know it should be gone in a couple of days, i might try just expressing as well.

I don't think it's canesten... it's basically an athletes foot cream that I was prescribed as the fungus is the same... :) I wouldn't apply canesten unless you have checked it with your GP first to be honest...

Nystatin drops are licensed for littlies though, I know because they were the first lot that Celia had they were the most effective for her too!

Mrs M, 48 hours after you start treatment you should get relief from thrush symptoms but don't stop treatment until a few days after all your systoms have gone.

Drink/eat plenty of probiotic stuff (that was what finally saw off my thrush!), make sure you wash off any creams from your nipples before you feed her and if she has any bottles you'll need to get new teats as the fungal gubbins gets trapped in them :-)

And so ends the sermon on thrush! (We had it for MONTHS! It was horrid!)

I remember that was the worst one because for the second and third she knew what was coming whereas the previous sets she didn't know till it came.

You'll prolly have used daktacort Tine that's what I was prescribed (first, I went through most of them) conestan will be fine as it's a thrush treatment just make sure you wash it off before a feed.

BTW if you get thrush again and again - check your OH doesn't have athletes foot... if you use the same towels it can actually cross contaminate to your boobs and then to the babys mouth...

Without getting off my butt... Daktarin rings a bell :) Could be wrong... then again I am sure in 99% of the cases it's a matter of market names rather than active ingredients :) But never apply anything unless you have consulted with a GP (HVs cannot prescribe things to a baby under 8 weeks old so you need to speak to your GP...)

I just phoned my Dr, though only got to speak to the receptionist. She said that yes people do apply canestan to their nipples for thrush but she would make a note of me saying it sounded strange and if the doctor thought there would be something more appropriate for it he would change the prescription.
