Morning all! Did anyone sleep better last night? I didn't go to sleep early like planned but am going to try again tonight - best laid plans and all that!
Thankyou for that info Tia
We're going into work this morning to show Rhys off. I'm hoping noone is offended but I'm going to insist on anyone touching him using anti-bac hand gel first. I don't think there will be many who do want to hold him - the worst culprits are in holiday!- but just to be sure. Don't care if they think I'm a nurotic mother..
Don't even know why but I'm already feeling twitchy about when the feeding question comes up. We may be there long enough for me to need to (bottle) feed Rhys, and I'm anticipating questions and judgements because they'll think I'm formula feeding him. I personally see nothing wrong with formula feeding a healthy child, but some people feel differently - I think it's cos I've had it drummed into me at the neonatal unit that I really MUST breastfeed/give EBM. I know most people won't even understand the link between his kidneys and why he should have BM, but it still puts me on edge. The other thing is if/when I tell them it's EBM (probably with me sounding defensive), some will and some won't understand how exactly you do express your milk - I work with a mix of parents and those clearly very naive about children!Don't want to have to explain that one to some of the factory blokes!
*sigh* Sorry, this is just me wittering again.. Will stop now, promise

Well, I've just had a bizarre 45 minutes... Rhys has been breastfeeding
He was a bit fractious and started sucking on my top, so I pulled the strap down, he bounced around a bit, slammed his wide open mouth down on my nipple and stayed there for half an hour. Most decent effort he's ever made and we haven't tried it for five weeks!
Now how am I going to get his meds into him?!:rotfl:it's mining isn't is! every time I open the cupboard Chris says "oh I have a oreo mummy" err no honey have some raisins :cool:Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Aah - that explains it then!
I was just being nosey! My and OH (if I decide to like him again!), said when we do it, we'll just booger off to the registry office and do it on our own and tell everyone later. (Neither of us want the big white wedding bit!).
We'd quite like to have a party - but obviously not straight after the wedding that noone knows about! So, if the party was 6 months later - that'd be ok!
Not sure how much we really wanted a "proper" wedding party, it ended up being a bit of a halfway-house (stately home but only 50 guests, reception but no band (just an iPod) etc). Originally we thought we had to have it because OH's American relations would want something serious to fly over from the west coast - but in the end they all cancelled for various reasons and only her dad was here!
The honeymoon was the interesting bit (not just for that reason! You dirty minded ladies :A), we took the train across 9 European countries and stopping to sample some of them, before going the length of Greece and ending up recuperating for a week on Greek islands
Oh, and I am not too sure about hugging Bruno: if we do it one at a time, his OH will get worried, and if we offer a group hug it will look like an orgy! :rotfl: So I'll just send rational vibes ...
Vibes and hugs are all fine, orgies may be a little much, but thanks for the thoughtOh, thankyou, that reminds me I was sent a letter for a smear test appointment whilst I was pregnant and obviously didn't go.. Another thing to phone and book! After having a registrar grovelling around there are 5am on a Sunday morning, all shame has gone out the window and I'm not bothered anymore!
 I was reading the wedding comments in people's posts earlier, I read this and thought OH MY GOD why did the registrar do that! And why was your wedding at 5am - .... ohMorning all! Did anyone sleep better last night? I didn't go to sleep early like planned but am going to try again tonight - best laid plans and all that!
We're going into work this morning to show Rhys off....
Maybe a little better, thank you! A BF at 3.30, a patting back to sleep at 5.15, morning started at 6.30. More manageable than some recent nights.
Don't feel defensive about the anti-bacterial requirement or about bottles! People criticising are just showing their ignorance, you may be politely condescending to them if you wishhave a great time!

and since we are introducing ourselves to scrummy and button, i am emlou, i'm 24, mummy to seth who is now 4 and a bit months, and i have just realised i have completely lost track of how many weeksmel, help??
erm yes, so apart from being rather scatty, i never know what i'm doing and i do tend to struggle a bit with this parenting malarkey!!
:rotfl:I honestly don't know...I always just say roughly how many months:o:o
I will count up in my diary after brekkie though, cos I am going to get him weighed this morning...and they always ask - can't they just work it out themselves:rolleyes::p
Oh and Kai is back to his sleepy self, he went to bed at 8pm and got up at 6am:D
Bruno - Were you a bit annoyed that they all cancelled, especially as the 'do' was mainly for their benefit? We are not close to our families at all, so we got married in Cyprus(just the 2 of us, ds1 21mths and bump 7mths). We just had a small meal when we got back there was about 10 of us in total....our wedding presents consisted of £100 off my mum and £100 of dh's dad....that's it, nothing else at all!Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
Ooo nothing like lounging on the sofa at 8:45 in the morning and being greeted by the window cleaners trotting round your back garden :rotfl: Thank goodness they have a sense of humour!
The cat seems unperturbed by all the fuss and cuddles I keep wanting to give him and has now gone out for some peace and quiet
Will just have to wait and see what happens with the next blood tests when the kit for it comes in...At least he's such an easy cat to deal with at the vets... didn't even have to sedate him for the x-ray to see if there were any obvious signs of cancer... (none that the vet could see...)

Anybody want a 12 year old? He's got up in a one hell of a bad mood and I don't know why
I banned all electronics until after 9am, as I was sick of them arguing over who was going on the xbox first rather than having breakfast  They are both aware of the rule.
Joshua got up this morning and kicked off about the 9am rule. They had breakfast and went upstairs. Don't know what happened but I heard yelling and banging and when I went up, they were rolling around on the floor fighting. Told them to pack it in and did the choices thing - be good and get stuff at 9am or continue to fight and it's banned till 12pm.
Fight broke out again, so everything has been banned till 12pm. James accepted that, said sorry and he's been well behaved since.
Joshua went off on one, hurling abuse at everyone, then accidentally locked himself in the porch and hammered on the door and yelled to be let back in, then accidentally locked himself in his bedroom by taking the door handle off (it was loose anyway - needs the screw holes filling and redoing), and repeated the hammering and yelling. Told him he was banned from everything for the rest of the day, as I'm not putting up with behaviour like that.
Had the usual verbal outburst blaming everyone and everything else for his bad behaviour, and how I favour James and Charlotte and how he's so badly done to
Now he's rang my Mam, so my Mam is all over him and thinks he's right and I'm a crap Mam for punishing him
I'm off work today, but I wish I was going in nowHere I go again on my own....0 -
He can't seem to see that it's because I know so much more than him, that it's obviously my duty to share my pearls of wisdom. He says it's just wrong.
I think he thinks I am too old.
Tell him he is wrong and we NEED you!!!Well, I've just had a bizarre 45 minutes... Rhys has been breastfeeding

Tara - I just really pitied my husband at that stage...even now sometimes Benjamin just wants his mummy and I feel SO sorry for hubby....although it gets less and less, thank god.
DH gets upset sometimes when he can't settle her, and the second I walk in to sort her out she stops crying. I keep telling him that before we know it she will hate me and go to him for everything, but he doesn't seem to believe me

At our clinic they have little wheely things to work out how many weeks. You turn the arrow to babies birthday then todays date is next to the number of weeks baby is now. Very clever
I've woken up feeling like I have a hangover this morning, so I'm back off to bed. I had arranged for my mum to have Izzy today - part of our plan to get her used to being away from me before I actually go back to work - doing through till 3pm this week and next week, then will move on to a full day... also will give me a chance to get things straight before I go back to work. My intention today was to do a few more bits in the kitchen, so that I can put the kitchen back together and start clearing the living room, ready to go fetch our new and far more baby-friendly units from Ikea on Saturday. But instead I'm going back to bed. With any luck I will feel better when I wake up and will be able to get loads done.
And at least with my mum looking after Izzy there is no risk of her rolling off the bedIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Well - a bit, yes. Not really annoyed, but in retrospect the whole thing was a bit unnecessary (and ate all my savings ;p). It was a nice day and a one-off, I don't really regret it!0 -
Oh dear... we're dribbling and chewing a lot today... teething before 3 months old? Please tell me it's not likely! :eek:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
