How much of the first week do you guys remember? I know my Mum was here for four days, but I don't remember much else.

I don't really have much recollection of things till 6 weeks.
I remember quite a lot but I have a good memory for things that have happened - I can remember loads of stuff from when I was very little too.

Oh and I forgot to say...I was looking for oilatum junior for LO and my friend and I were given it for free via the NHS minor ailment service through a boots pharmacy. Hope this helps someone. (this is definately worth it as this stuff costs a fortune!).

feely - I have little blanks here and there, but in the main remember things. however, looking back the first few weeks were hard, but sleep deprivation seems harder now, probably because its a more long term issue now. I was on a bit of a baby high for the first 2-3 weeks.

  • I'm gonna have a rant and and brag I'm afraid so feel free to skip my post!

Brag: DS2 is only 10 weeks old and we had him weighed yesterday - he's 15lb 6oz and screamed his little heart out when he had some injections. I gave him a dose of calpol before bed and he slept from 9pm last night until 6am this morning!!!:T I was really good and managed to only check on him once. However DS1 made up for it and woke me up twice in the night but don't know what the hell for.

Rant: I've been suffering with really bad hip pain going right across my pelvis ever since I was about 8 months pregnant with DS2. I couldn't sleep on my back as I ended up with a crampy type pain in my back. I still can't sleep on my back and it hurts if I lie on my front as well although not as bad. I then have to slowly move until I can change position/get up.

It also happens but a lot more painful if I'm standing up or walking for periods of time without stopping and sitting down for a bit. Everytime I try to walk when its hurting I'm in a lot of pain and having to shuffle my feet rather than walk and usually either holding my breath or crying through the pain.

I mentioned it to the health visitor when DS2 was a few weeks old and she said wait until his 6-8 week check and mention it if not gone by then. Finally had his check yesterday and was told to book a separate GP appt, which I did. Saw doctor yesterday evening and he basically told me I was too fat, to lose weight and do more exercise. (I mean no sh*t sherlock - I never realised I was overweight!) I know my pelvic floor muscles are knackered and asked for help and he just told me to carry on doing exercises, which I realise I need to do but what if I'm doing them wrong or some gizmo will help more. Just made me feel so de-flated and basically the GP wasn't interested until my bits are hanging out and I've prolapsed (which feels like it won't be too long at the moment!) Just wait until I really lose it want help with our sex life then I might as well become a nun!

Sorry that got worse as I typed it

Well that was a fun night! I don't think we even made it till 3am before the banshee visited our house... cue me loooking daggers at hubby (no idea if he saw - I didn't have my glasses on so couldn't tell...)
She then refused to go back down after her feed, ended up falling asleep between us before I managed to sneak her back in her basket next to me... She then wen't through till about 8 - 8:30...
So much for Dh wanting a full nights sleep - she was awake and making lots of noise for about an hour HA! Serves him right for moving her into her room without consulting me!

claire - that sounds like spd to me? perhaps someone else who had it can help you. I know that MFD used a birthing ball to sit on to help her back when she was pg.

Can you ask to see another doctor at your practice?

I forgot! I had a really upset little girl last night - its so not like her!

She had a very red cheek, and a proper upset cry and lots of slobber (And very smelly bottom wind!)- so i'm guessing it could be a tooth, although I can't feel/see anything.
Gave her half a A&P powder - i'd forgotton how great they were. She instantly settled and slept til 5am!

(Seem quite happy this morning, although she still has smelly bottom wind - obviously her fathers daughter!) :rotfl:

You do need to do your pelvic floor exercises, sorry hun... I know i'm extreemly lucky mine seems to have been fine but then I did a LOT of horse riding before I fell pregnant and it seems to have stood me in good stead  I think that gadgets and gizmo's are rarely much more than that... We want them because we think they'll make it easier and then they'll sit in a drawer after we've used them less than half a dozen times (I know... I'm a gadget freak too LOL)
The hip pain... I'm hardly a size 10 myself and this week I finally started going to the gym :j:j Alex is 9 1/2 weeks. My gym instructor built me a workout bearing in mind I only gave birth 2 1/2 months ago and allowing for the elastin still affecting my joints. It's very gentle but still gets me puffin so it IS possible to do it :)
Have you been to the local gym to see if doing a workout might be a possibility? I did notice that because I wasn't standing still my hips didn't hurt as much? Mine have been hurting since about week 20 with Alexandra :( Horrible but the only pain relief they'd give me for that and my back was co-codamol... had NO effect on it AT ALL! Time and gentle exercise seems to be the way forward for me at least (and hopefully the horrid nasty elastin which is what is causing this in the first place will go away!)
