I'm not, I am happy with my contract, as is my fella, (who is actually the name on both contracts), we get what we need, we never go over minutes, we don't phone 08 numbers, so we are both staying.
That is fair enough. But many people are far of from renewing contract and not on the right deal or want a new phone... that's what I think this is mainly about.0 -

well i rang up a few hours ago and got it canceled, but im receiving texts still, should i just leave it a few days?
? Hum, the system runs a bit slow sometimes, it can take the request a while to work its way through (and an acc termination is a major action). Give it a few more hours.
Didn't they give you a time ?0 -
i had to ring a few times, because my mum pays my bill and she wanted me to make sure that we were not going to get a big bill at the end, the first lady said Monday...but the 2nd lady said it had gone through...it's all abit confusing!0

In spite of 25 pages on this subject I would appreciate clarification on my position.
My 18 month contract was bought in Nov 2008, direct from Orange and is a Raccoon package. I am reasonably happy, but if I can cancel without charge, I will because there are some good new phone deals out there.
Will I get the text and can I cancel ?
Are they still insisting you wait for a text or can you force their hand ?
Thanks0 -
Ok, if the first agent said Monday then the action would be timed for then.
If you've then called and requested a termination now, they will have to cancel the Monday action (as the system won't let the cancel an acc if there something pending) and then start a new one for now after the old action has been killed.

Hello all.
Hopefully someone can help with this. I got my phone through carphone warehouse, so i was subject to a second set of T&C's. In which there was the following:
8. DEFAULT UNDER AND TERMINATION OF YOUR AIRTIME CONTRACT
8.1. If (i) within 7 working days of receipt of your Equipment, you have failed to arrange connection of the Equipment to the Network, if not already connected, (ii) you move onto a tariff which offers a lower rate monthly subscription during the Minimum Period, (iii) your Network Operator ends the Airtime Contract in accordance with its terms (including not limited to where you have failed to fulfill your payment obligations during the Minimum Period), (iv) you end the Airtime Contract for any reason within 9 months (if your Minimum Period is 12 months or more) or within your Minimum Period (if your Minimum Period is less than 12 months) or (v) you have been issued with a new Mobile Phone to use in conjunction with your Airtime Contract for a new Minimum Period and you have not used the new Mobile Phone within 30 days of receipt, and the relevant tariff includes a discounted Mobile Phone/Smart Phone, you must in addition to paying any other charges under the Airtime Contract either:
8.1.1. return the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone to us by sending it special delivery to Direct Returns, CPW Logistics Centre, Bilston Road, Wednesbury, W Midlands, WS10 7JN; or
8.1.2. keep the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone, in which case you agree to pay us the amount of the discount being the handset only purchase price of the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone less the amount paid by you at the time of purchase for the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone.
That essentuially means i have to return the phone to CPW.
However to check whether term (iii) applied to me, i rang their customer helpline today and the girl on the phone told me that i wasnt liable for anything, and would not have to return the handset as it was acquired outside the contract, as per the orange T&C's.
My question is - does this phone call, which was noted on my account and recorded by CPW, overrule their T&C's? Or can they come back and say that the customer rep was wrong and demand the money?0 -

My son cancelled yesterday, told them he'd had the text, they said he's not due to get it til Aug 5th !!!
He said he'd had it last Friday and their system must be wrong and they just went OK and cancelled his contract . . .0
