We came back from the seaside yesterday but are going back Tuesday! :j
DD(17) is off 'on her own' for the weekend (first time) so I'm very worried! I'm resisting the urge to go with her and hover like an old mother hen at the moment!
DD(7) is at her friends today so I've been catching up with the washing etc - back to reality!
Only one more week to go...
Is anyone else feeling sad the hols are nearly over?
I'm dreading getting back into the school run/lunch boxes/uniforms/homework...
Even worse that it will start to get cold, and dark at nights.
And I will miss having dd's around.0 -

And I will miss having dd's around.I am soooo glad that today was the last day of just me having them before they go back to school.
I am suffering from 'cabin fever' not that I can't get out, just I can't go out without taking kids with me. I am stopping up too late to get some time without them and it's having a knock on effect of my sleep. Bedtime is not my kids fav time of day:rolleyes: and their routine has gone completely out of the window these hols and I realise no way could that happen if I was working.
Kids have justy been park or playing on bikes last couple of days whilst I have been tidying ready for going away next week.Sorted out DS's wardrobe. He's had a growth spurt over the summer and several of his jeans and trousers didn't fit. Luckily I've been given loads of clothes for him lately from my friends with older boys, so don't need to go on shopping spree! Passed the outgrown clothes onto another friend and she asked if he'd also outgrown his new school trousers. Hadn't thought of that.:eek:so need to double check over w/end.
My 15yo godson is babysitting for 1st time for me over w/end whilst we go out. He wants to work with kids so hopefully my 2 won't put him off.:rotfl:0 -

Yes, it is harder when you have more than one at the 'need to go out with you' age.
I only have dd(7) at that stage and one is far easier to cope with! Plus, dd(17) will have her while I pop out for short periods, so I can do quick errands easily.
Hope you have a good time at the weekend.0 -
We were really busy yesterday getting house organised and ready to go away, so much so that 40 mins before our new babysitter arrived, I had a horrible thought, asked the kids hopefully if 'Dad has made your tea' but nope.:o Amazed they never said, they normally remind me of baby blackbirds in the nest.
Husband had gone to take some items to friend who was hosting bbq, but each time he went friend asked if we also had a x/y/z so hubby kept popping back and forth.
With nothing in the cupboards or fridge to make a quick meal, put something in oven from frezer. Just as I'm checking it dd runs inside screaming cos she is being chased by her brother who has a water pistol. Ordered them outside. 5 mins later as I'm dishing up they're back with DS saying the reason his sister is wet is cos he was giving her a piggy-back but dropped her in the paddling pool accidentally.:mad:
At this point I lost it and ranted at them
'Where's your Dad, cos you 2 are doing my head in and I can't cope with you by myself........'
Hubby said from behind me 'I'm here with our new babysitter':eek::eek:
I said to babysitter 'You didn't hear all that did you?':rotfl:
Thankfully he remained, we had a great night, plenty to eat and drink and all for the cost of a babysitter, who says he'll babysit again.:T0 -

Hi everyone,
we are back from Center Parcs, where dd learnt to swim (doggy paddle style), kids cycled, played in inside and outdoor play areas, built a sandcastle, went in a pedalo and on adventure golf, watched the wildlife and went to a robin hood themed banquet.
We booked this hol as when we went in March hubby had flu the whole time we were there. This time we got a phone call to say his Dad was in hospital having had a stroke. We decided to stay as we were about 40 mins drive away and if ness hubby would go, leaving rest of us there. My 85yo nan who also came with us in March and fell in the swimming pool hurting her back, this time had a 'performance' and announced she was going to walk to the village and get a taxi home as she couldn't stand the atmosphere.. I am guessing that the situation was either fetching back bad memories as my grandad had a stroke during the mid 70's that left him an invalid till he died 25 years later, felt that we should have gone home or had decided we were being snappy with the kids, we had actually told the kids off and sent them to seperate bedrooms for throwing a bow and arrow at each other in the accommodation! Anyway she was persuaded to stay and FIL is now out of hospital.

A few hours left of the last day of the hols:j:rotfl:
Is everyone else's back (except Jellyheads) as it's gone quiet on hereand I seem to be talking to myself.
Last year at the start of the school hols I was really looking forward to them as I thought it would be the last time I had all summer off as I thought I'd be working by now. I didn't really enjoy them, husband had just gone back to work after 4 weeks off (for an op) so he couldn't take time off and I found it all a bit too much.
So this year with the recession meaning I'm still job-hunting and them being longer I was not looking forward to it and have been surprised by how much I've (mostly) enjoyed them. The kids have gone to the pictures, play pub,the wildlife centre, fishing, rugby camp, leisure camp, kayaking, seaside and Center parcs.
What has helped I think is that I did get a break once a week when they went to childcare whilst I did my voluntary job. Hubby took a week off mid-week to mid-week and we went away at the end when I was strugging with not being able to get out alone syndrome. Also helped by our new neighbours so the kids for the first time have had someone to go to the park with, instead of hoping a friend is already there and the pub with the swimming pool was a great bonus find.0 -
mine started today .... sob! and coincidentally my husband got a letter saying his job is under threat, and they want ideas before the next meeting, but a 20% pay cut looks likely. So it's time to look for a job I suppose.52% tight0
