  • Today DH has gone to play golf and has dropped DD1 off at her new boyfriend's on the way! ( Young love....she's 15 and met him on holiday. He lives about 30 miles away and they've met up 3 times since!) DD2 is getting her brace fitted at 12.00 so is sitting here very quietly watching telly, and then we're going to pick DD1 up later and call in to see my lovely 2 year old neice on our way home.

Is def towards the end of the hols cos yesterday my dd wrote a letter to Father Christmas. She requested a toy pony, rollerskates, a boomerang:confused:, snow to fall and her own computer!

It's all those adverts on the TV :(

My boy is 4 now, and has started asking, and wanting everything on the ads. he really hopes santa will bring him a magnetic fishing game that he saw in the gift shop at alton towers, even though he already has a magnetic fishing game! his is small and wooden though (and much nicer than this plastic thing which will be snapped within minutes I'm sure!).

2 weeks left of holidays for us, we're going to butlins for the last weekend though, and got a travelodge room for the thursday night so we can get to butlins early (will make up for leaving early so little one isn't too exhausted for his first day at school, he goes on the 8th).

Jellyhead does your LO start f-time on the first day? It varies school to school around here. Both mine started on the first day term started but were only half days for 1-2 weeks first. Other schools start f-time straight away and others don't start reception till later in Sept, sometimes even early oct and are part-time too to start off with. I have known families manage to get a cheap hol if their child is starting at a school where reception kids don't start for a few weeks.

Today I took ds to staples to get some boxes to put the k'nex my friend gave him in. £40 later.:eek::eek: I hadn't realised! Then I had horrible ear-ache and went to bed with a pain-killer so glad dh was about.

He goes for around 2 hours a day for the first week, building up to the first full day on the friday of week 2. So 8 days of part time first, but they have said that if we think ours isn't ready for full time we can request part time for a bit longer (I think they meant days rather than weeks).

I suppose our holiday was a cheapie anyway, booked using tokens from the sun newspaper. Everyone else on the sun thread said they go back to school a week earlier than we do, which is why 4 groups of us were able to get butlins for £105 I think it was in total.

  • Today we're off to Blackpool for an overnight stay! DD1 needs to go into school to get her GCSE results ( they take 2 a year early) then straight onto Blackpool. A trip to the Pleasure Beach this afternoon courtesy of Tesco clubcard, travel inn overnight, Sandcastle water park tomorrow morning with a 25% off voucher and then up Blackpool Tower tomorrow afternoon ' cause at the age of 41 I've never been up it!

DD2 had her brace fitted yesterday and is struggling with it so hopefully this will ll take her mind off it!

Have picked up the kids from grandmas today. Dd first day at school is not till 10th sept then its only half days for 4 weeks, DS start preschool on 14th sept. still ages to go yet. Should be taking them to chessington on monday if all goes well, bit worried about ds being tall enough, he'll want to go on everything the little dare devil.
