Went to South Lakes Zoo today. Used tescos dayout vouchers so it was a very cheap day out and kids loved it. It wasn't too busy and the sun was shining for us!

I've been car-less since last week, problem with brakes. Car currently at garage having work done on it. My friend called with some k'nex that her 12yo had outgrown which has kept my ds quiet. He has made his own version though as he 'doesn't like following an instruction leaflet and would rather work it out himself':D (one day I may have a d-i-l who's going to love that-lol!)

Working today, dd went to same holiday playscheme as last week, son went to leisure centre to their sports camp for the day. They'v changed the policy since he last went at easter and kids can't swim without an adult until they are 10 (he's 9). He would have had to stay behind and do a dry sport activity with the other underage kids, so hubby rang my 18yo neice who collected him early and took him swimming hersef.:T . I'm now off till they go back to school. The rugby club camp they attended 1st week of hols sent both kids season tickets for the rugby, just need to find a rugby supporter who wants to take my kids to watch games.:rotfl:

Hoping to get back to the pub with the swimming pool with friends tomorrow, fingers crossed for the weather.

we went to the paddling pool in the town park today - I took a pump and the inflateable boat, crocodile, caterpillar and 2 surfboards. Arms are tired now from pumping them all up lol!

I love having a free paddling pool just a mile away :)

I used to love the local paddling pool when I was a child, but they filled them in years ago here. :(

We've had a couple of days at home, with dd playing with friends and me sorting the house out a bit.

We went for a meal last night as it was our first wedding anniversary since we split - which sounds daft I know!

Anyway, the girls mentioned it and my ex did too, so we decided we'd use it as an excuse to all go out somewhere; dd(17) spends less time going places with us now so it was nice for that reason as much as anything iyswim?

Today will be much the same (I am at uni this morning) and tomorrow we are meeting some of dd's school friends for a picnic. Hope the weather is good!
  • We had a great day yesterday - and all for free. The Mersey Forest had a session at the local community centre and whilst the kids were making flowers from drinks bottles, the adults had a slide show of nature photos. Then we had a buffet lunch, followed by a walk on a reclaimed site nearby. We had been encouraged to take cameras to learn about photographing wildlife - very popular with my youngest (age 9). After the walk, we returned to the community centre and downloaded the photos onto PCs and were able to print some out.

There was no cost involved and the day was from 11am-3pm. The weather was great, if a bit warm. There were activities for children and adults, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There are going to be monthly walks from next month, but during the week when the kids are at school - but I'll probably go along.

Thought was going to have to cancel trip to pub with swimming pool cos of rain and black clouds then about 1hr before friend finished her shift the sun came out.:Tso had a geat afternoon, catching up with gossip, whilst kids played with her son.

I popped to our children's centre this morning and saw some advisers who were running a drop in surgery, it was to do with if we needed any help with financial matters (we don't) but they could also point you in direction of help with other areas, one of which is job-hunting. Anyway I found out that there's a project running in my area which helps you find work and they've got my details and are going to ring in a couple of weeks when kids are back at school (cos their adviser is away and then I am). Really pleased about it.:j

We seem to have gone quiet on here. Have people's children gone back (are the Scottish schools already back?)? People away on hol? Or like mine and my friends kids 'fed up of the hols' kicked in yesterday and sibling bickering has started.

Is def towards the end of the hols cos yesterday my dd wrote a letter to Father Christmas. She requested a toy pony, rollerskates, a boomerang:confused:, snow to fall and her own computer!

Taken the kids into town a couple of times and had their eyes checked as we noticed that ds was squinting. They bought a book each at Waterstones and as this branch has a costa coffeee in it thought that was a brill idea cos they could read their new books whilst I had a latte and read the paper. It worked....if anyone has ever read the kids book 'Five minutes peace' about the large family of elephants and eventually Mrs Large gets precisely 3 mins 45 seconds before her famil;y demand her attention again that was about the same length of time I got to read the paper.

Called at my friends today and she reported a similar story with her kids, so think she was pleased for me to turn up, it gave the kids someone new for them to bicker with.:p

Am also glad that hubby is working from home tomorrow as I'm also going stir-crazy not being able to go out without taking them with me.

Note to self-if I am working next year don't take the last weeks of the hols off if you are stopping at home!
