DD played at home Thursday, as I had to go to uni on the morning and was washing clothes all afternoon.
Yesterday, we went to see Walking with Dinosaurs - very expensive, but an excellent show - I highly recommend it! We stopped at TGI Fridays on the way home and had a meal too.
Today she has been with her dad as I was at work. I took one of the clients from work into town so we popped into the uniform shop on our way home and ordered her cardi, coat and polos. Now I (just) need shoes, P.E. pumps and trousers.
Tomorrow, we are going to see Mall Cop (Kids am).
I plan to have a week at home now, getting school things sorted and cleaning the house; ridding it of anything and everything we don't need or use because we have had two HUGE spiders this last week and it's freaked me out!
DD(17) rang her dad (we are separated) at 11.30 the other night, to remove a huge beastie from the bathroom! He wasn't impressed as he was already in bed, starts work at 6am, and had to drive 15 minutes to get here, but I've got a phobia and am no use to anyone when there is a spider about, and this one was too big for dd to cope with (she is normally fine with putting them outside, but this one scared her).
:o:o
How pathetic are we???:rolleyes::rolleyes: It ran into dd's(17) bedroom at one point, so I told her (from my safe point downstairs) to climb out of the window!:o:o She does have a sloping roof under it, that can be stood on, so it isn't quite as bad as it sounds though. It's what I'd have done if it was in the doorway and I was trapped in the room, but I'm glad she didn't take my advice all the same!
But anyway, enough with embarrassing myself!
Later this week, we are going back to the seaside and I plan to stay there at least a week this time! :j0 -
I'm the same with spiders. When I was at uni I used to call my dad! Not as bad as it sounds, I only lived 2 miles from home, went to my local uni in the end through clearing.
Your poor ex though lol!52% tight0 -
I plan to get to tesco today and look at this £15 uniform bundle because it only lasts for a few days (the offer, not the uniform hopefully!) and it includes the coat, which eldest needs. His coat is too big, and he says it's a chav coat (coq sportif). Apparently there's a clothing coupon in the daily mail today too.
I won't do it for youngest though, he is due to start school and I think having a coat the same as lots of others will be difficult for him but eldest likes the cheap supermarket coats because nobody else at high school has them.52% tight0 -
I also wanted to ask BrokeBrunette at what age did she find that her kids went off doing their own thing.
Sorry Spendless, I only just spotted this. I'm not sure exactly how old, but they were definitely teenagers. In their early teens they would combine seeing friends and still doing things with me but its now developed more with friends and barely nothing with me.
This situation hasn't been helped by the fact I haven't been well all summer so I'm probably even more boring than normal! I can't drive at the moment but I'm sure we would have had a few days out shopping or to cinema if I had been able to.0 -
We are off camping again tom, ive packed the car ready and the site is about 10 miles away i intend to parkt he car and not use it again until we leave, so saving petrol.
Have lots of sports equipent, and games so yipee camping here we come!!!!!:A :j0 -

One of my work colleagues had a hysterical call from her daughter who was new at university, 70 miles away. She was asking her dad to jump in the car and come and help her and they really thought she had been attacked and were telling her to call the police while they got on the road. Once she calmed down enough to explain, you've guessed it.....a spider.0 -
DD went to a Birthday party yesterday at her friends house, bouncy castle in garden. I bought the Birthday girl some Charlie and Lola books, really pleased with them hard-backed books priced £7.99 each on the back (and I've paid that for them before) and they were in the 99p shop:j:money:. I've also saved some as stocking fillers for dd,:silenced: Not that I'm really mentioning Christmas in mid August.:p
A friend is coming over tomorrow with at least 1 of her older boys, that should spur me on to tidy the upstairs, my mother ringing to say she was coming round in 30mins this morning did wonders for the downstairs.:D
Just as well really as my car def needs booking into a garage as something is wrong and that restricts where we go compared to the freedom we've had for last few weeks.0 -
We have been watching dvds of our children when they were younger, fascinating for all & cheap! Except for working out I really need to decorate living room!
For those going to see Mall cop I have done a 30 day dvd trial & we got Mall cop, it was so funny, kids loved it (and so did I!)
Glad to know I am not alone in still having uniform to by too, plus my eldest has obvioulsy been growing taller with all the time she has spent in bed & really needs new clothes and I do wish she'd like a cheap coat which noone else has!0 -

We saw Mall Cop yesterday and I recommend it too - very funny! In fact, I said afterwards that is probably the funniest film I have seen in a while, because I was pretty much laughing the whole way through.
I tend not to buy uniform too early, especially shoes, but then I get in a sweat wondering if they will have anything in her size etc.
DD's school used to be the only place to buy her uniform as it has to be logo'd (well, I don't know they can legally enforce this, but everyone abides by it) and so I have only needed trousers/skirt, undies and shoes by the summer hols the last couple of years.
This year, a uniform shop is selling it instead (too much hassle for the school as pupil numbers have grown I think) and, when I called in while passing the other day, I discovered they have none of the stuff I need and it takes a week to order!
That's fine at this stage, but I'm very glad I didn't leave it until the last minute thinking I'd be safe, as dd doesn't have a cardi at all!
In fairness to the lady, she is still trying to gauge stock levels so it's very hit and miss this year.
Of course, once it's all bought, there's the naming to do... At least I only have the one now!
ETA: forgot to say 'Mall Cop' is the Kids AM film this week at Vue so cheap to see as well!0
