Perfect Wedding Present?

Do you want an expensive microwave, then? Cheap ones are within the £20-30 range, but if you have your heart set on a fancy one, I suppose it's best not to hint that you'd like one as a present because then if someone bys you a cheapo one you might feel obliged to use for at least a couple of years (or until it broke down, whichever is first!) before upgrading.Agutka wrote:I'm getting married soon and I have just been trying to put a list together. Which is much harder than I thought. Anything costing £20-30, which would be an appropriate present, I already own. I have bought that kettle, towels, hand mixer etc. What we really would like is one of those new fangled TVs, or a Dyson, new Microwave, a KitchenAid - things we will not be able to afford, and would not expect our guests to buy.
For my own wedding, when I was on a very tight budget, some of the presents we received were for the wedding itself, e.g. entertainment, cake, buffet, a lift in a white car (to which we attached ribbon to make it weddingish). For my cousin's wedding, I took the official photos and my dad paid to get them printed, and I also gave them a photo album. My sister made the cake for her (ex-boy)friend's wedding.0 -
I had no idea about microwaves - I assumed they were expensive. We have done our list now with items ranging from £2-300!! That last one being the Kitchen Aid mixer - you never know, people might prefer to chip in together.
It is such a funny feeling - shopping in theory. Good training for married life though - great arguments in public, about meaningless things like the shade of white plates...
Oh, and my Argos list, which I haven't submitted, does have a huge telly on it! I think I'd better take that off though. It's like writing a list for Santa!
I just hope everyone turns up on the day, that would be the best present at this stage. *sigh*
PS When I was five or six, my older brother was having a BDay party and when one of his friends turned up I greeted him at the door with a 'where's the present then' interrogation. The poor lad went back home all embarassed to get a chocolate bar. The shame...:wall:0
