So, rhetorical question: I have to start on That Antibiotic tomorrow for 5 days, so strictly no booze. Actually, that's a statement of fact, the question is: why do I feel pleased / relieved? I'm saying it's a rhetorical qu cos if I can't work my own mind out why should I expect anyone else to be able to but would appreciate any thoughts.
On one level I can understand a sense of relief cos it takes the decision-making out of it; that daily grind of "I know I shouldn't drink today, I don't want to drink today, but actually I do want to drink today, shall I? Let's toy with the idea for 5 minutes then unscrew a bottle of wine".
On the other hand (a wb 5-handed discussion coming up) if I was that bothered by the prospect of an af weekend, I could start them on Monday.....but the idea isn't even tempting (honest!); I will start them in the morning (have to take the wadding out them if I haven't swallowed it in the night), confess am having a drink tonight but going easy cos don't want to start them on a boozy tum.
So, if i'm "cool" about an af 5 days incl a weekend forced upon me why is it so hard not to drink every single day of my life the rest of the time.....? ah ha! got to the point at last!
Been there and done that, I felt so relieved when I knew I couldn't drink, that was last month and I did 21 days AF. Good luck with it, hope the pain goes away xx
Budgie, you made me cryxx

Use that for the basics and just really add whatever is to hand at the time ie peas, sweetcorn etc. Just a basic one today though
Just going to heat it up I think as it will soon be lunch and My DD's cannot eat the same as me or even each other so cafe time at Chez Monkey with 3 meals to prepare/open:D

I make corned beef hash fairly often. But mine is mashed corned beef on the bottom of an ovenproof dish, layered with baked beans and mashed potatoes on top. Then baked in the oven. My boys devour the lotNeed to start again0 -
Hi,
Friday night - soooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad it's the weekend. Bought a posh salad from M&S and some flowers and candles as a treat.
Jo - glad the counselling place got back to you quickly. Hope appt. goes well.
WB - ouch! Impressed that folk think you're turning 40 rather than 50 though. Any '10 years younger' tips you can share??
Budgie - wow, your son is doing so well, you must be so very proud.
xx
Edited to say: forgot my original reason for posting! Jo - thanks for doing the July scoring and Miss P thanks for volunteering for August.0 -
Budgie~thanks so much for the whole poem. It is indeed very thought provoking. As are many of your posts XXXX
Jo~(((((hugs))))) I hope you are okay. You've made the first step asking for help. TBH I didn't think you were in so deep as it were. I always consider myself to be running around, almost, having a problem, but able to contain it as it were. But you sound miserable. So I hope the people you have called can help.
Liver tests...mmmmmm. How do you get one? Do you have to go to your doctor? I must admit I would like to do it. I suppose I kind of wish it would come back and I would HAVE to stop what I am doing. But on the other hand, if it came back fine, would I just carry on? How much do you have to drink before it effects your liver? Maybe it is dependant on the person?
I saw that guy on This Morning a while back and he drank two bottles of wine a day and ended up neading a liver transplant  Could that be truthful?
Mush dash now. Oven peeping for my tea. No SC meal tonight because I promised the boys they could have pizza. They had their homemade ones earlier. I'm having the frozen variety now
Much love XNeed to start again0 -

oh yerss, smoke for 32 yrs, drink heavily for same period of time (tho not all concurrently hence still drinking tho nrly 5 yrs not smoking), slap on oodles of face cream. Most importantly, have a mum who was often taken as my Dad's daughter (only 4 year age diff!) & love her has passed on her genes. Oh yes, Clairol nice'n'easy helps too (40sm knows!). Mind you, don't get tooth problems I've aged 10 years this week!!!!!!0 -
Budgie, you are the best :A:kisses3:
Jo good luck with the counselling, hope LF ok

I just went to my GP last year and asked for a liver test as I said I drank far too much. He looked decidedly unbelieving but he did the test. I think it was a blood test but I can't remember exactly now. I used to drink 3 bottles of wine or a bottle of vodka a day for over 10 years and my liver was fine.
I really think that my taste for alcohol is a genetic trait as both my parents and lots of my uncles and aunts and grandparents have drinking problems. I should have health problems but I haven't had any which I think may be genetic too.
Sorry I'm in a thoughtful mood this evening, I'm just rambling.:o:rolleyes:HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Hiya hun, just go to your GP and ask for one. If you're brave enough like 115k, then say that you are concerned because of the amount you drink and ask that they not only do a LFT (liver function test) but a GGT too (eselt can tell you what that stands for, summat about enzymes in the liver). I had one a few months ago that said that at the moment my liver function was okay but my GGT was high, normal is between 0-31 and mine was 56 or summat which shows possible imminent liver damage if abused. It also shows alcohol abuse in a drinker.
I was 'pleased' I got this result, it made me sit up and think and I stopped drinking for 21 days (last month), since then been back down the bad road and can't get off, so don't be fooled that even if you're given the good enough reason to stop that you will.
Sorry for the maudling post, just saying it like it is
WB, hows the mouth?
BHB, as 115k says, run water in it, bluddy painful huh :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
