Hi WPF, hope you enjoy being part of the thread and get lots of support in whatever you wish to achieve x

WB, hope your face is okay hun  x

Got a call back from the drug and alcohol place, they've booked me in for my full assessment at 10am next Thursday. I was hoping I'd see my last counsellor as he was very good, but he doesn't work with drink addicts anymore, only drug addicts and thankfully I'm not one of those too :) So we shall have to wait and see what they say then, I'll probably ask for a blood test whilst I'm there to see if I've damaged my liver any more since last time  think I already know the answer

Right, off to make CB hash  xxx

ETA: good luck for an AF last day of the month, only 1 more scoring day for me and then I'm FREE!!!!! Ahem, sorry I mean, thanks for all being great this month and well done and good luck to Miss P ;)

Well I wanted a kick start & I've given myself one.....don't know WHY I've never thought of this before but I googled alcohol / gum disease and :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. So now I have an idea why the £££££££££££s I spend at the dentists / hygienist every year almost equals the ££££££££££££s I spend on wine!! He is always asking if I smoke but has never mentioned alcohol, & is mytified as to why I keep having such severe problems with my gums (my actual teeth are fine but there's less & less holding them in!).......amazing really that he's never asked the question & i've never made the link......next time I want to open that second bottle I'll try & focus on what I've been thro over the last 2 - 3 weeks. And now I've looked it up it's so bleedin' (scuse pun) obvious!

Winebox - do you know I was speaking to someone today that was a heavy drinker (not amazingly heavy in my opinion) and he hadn't been to the dentist for years and when he eventually went he had to have all his teeth taken out.

I keep thinking I need to have a wake up call like that to make me stop drinking too. I was so anxious about my liver test last year and my friends kept saying if it is bad news then I can still repair my liver etc and the tests came back as completely healthy.

Only 8 days AF this month for me Jo. Thanks for doing it this month.

    to any new people.

I'm not setting a target next month by the way. Thanks to Miss Piggy for doing it.

    Hi Guys :hello:

Sorry this is a splash and dash pit stop post.

Dad's birthday today just been out for lunch and then to buy him some water lillies and fish for his pond. I got a bit carried away but hey ho, total cost for lillies and plants came to £121 then lunch on top. More that I would usually spend, but its been a nice day :D

It was also nice as Ds got promoted yesterday, he should have been on the grad programme for another year, but they have promoted him and he has had a 12k pay rise. Not bad when you are in the higher tax bracket at 23. At least I should hopefully have a luxury nursing home in my old age to look forward too. In contrast Mr BB can't even get a min wage job. I am so glad he's out of Stoke and doing well. He is the one good thing that I have done right in my life :) Though I do think lunch should have been on him :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My father is so proud of him and how well he is doing, Much remains unspoken of earlier years before my Ds was born, but because of how well he is doing it sort of cleanses the past if you see what I mean? I don't know if you can get what I am trying to say  at all? But it shows that we can all change if we have the desire too, and no matter if we feel we have left it too late we should always at least try.

Just wanted to pop in to say Darling Jo I finish on 15 for the month, but I am ok with that I think. I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment, but glad that you are getting some help. It really is so hard to know what to say? Gc is just an inspiration, but how he has found his new way forward is baffling, he has been as he says himself at rock bottom. To go from there to how he is now is truly amazing. He has changed and I remember you asking how he had done this on an earlier post? I guess the answer is that you have to in the end find your own way forward and the peace that it brings.

I love the poem that our Lovely Fay posted:

roadwel.jpg Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

    ...Robert Frost

I think that is such a lovely poem. I hope you find your own path Jo and I send you my love and I wish you well Angel :A Thankyou for scoring this month and thankyou for being you and for your honesty and the love and care you show us all. ((())) Hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ok I really must go now, hugs and good luck to our new members, lots of love to our old members, love and hugs to anyone that is lurking? I shall catch up properly later or tomoz.

Ps BHB thanks for posting mate, thinking of you and your lovely family. Glad to hear that Mrs Bhb is getting along better with her brother and you are too. I am an only child so I would say if bridges can be mended then something good will come from something so sad. Hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Kisses from Stoke :kisses3:
    Have a fabby weekend everyone.
    God Bless

Yeah, thanks for that mate , cheered me up no end!! :rotfl::eek: Spose it's lucky then that I go every 3 months (££££££££££££££££££££££)

Well, good news, no abscess, the pain is due to the socket being infected (yeeeeuuuuch) so it's now packed with antibiotic wadding; making the dorritos taste a bit odd.

So, rhetorical question: I have to start on That Antibiotic tomorrow for 5 days, so strictly no booze. Actually, that's a statement of fact, the question is: why do I feel pleased / relieved? I'm saying it's a rhetorical qu cos if I can't work my own mind out why should I expect anyone else to be able to but would appreciate any thoughts.

On one level I can understand a sense of relief cos it takes the decision-making out of it; that daily grind of "I know I shouldn't drink today, I don't want to drink today, but actually I do want to drink today, shall I? Let's toy with the idea for 5 minutes then unscrew a bottle of wine".

On the other hand (a wb 5-handed discussion coming up :D) if I was that bothered by the prospect of an af weekend, I could start them on Monday.....but the idea isn't even tempting (honest!); I will start them in the morning (have to take the wadding out them if I haven't swallowed it in the night), confess am having a drink tonight but going easy cos don't want to start them on a boozy tum.

So, if i'm "cool" about an af 5 days incl a weekend forced upon me why is it so hard not to drink every single day of my life the rest of the time.....? ah ha! got to the point at last!

Must be time for more lightweight TV soon.

Due to laziness / tiredness, MP's takeaway curry idea won over the CB hash (tho saved for another day!) thank you tesco.

Totoally unrelated non mse story, dd wanted spag bol for dins I am in lazy cow mode so bought fresh spag & sauce from tesco (a first!!) (whilst buying curry meal) then said to OH I'd do a chilli for weekend for OH & moi so have now cooked cauldron full of bolog sauce (I freeze boxes if it for DD & then add mega-chillies to the rest) - so stoopid tub of probably naff tesco bolog sauce waste of purchase.

God that was so boring :rotfl:but having written it, I ain't about to delete!!

(just heard her friend here tonight is veggie so now no bolog sauce required at all don't know whether to  or :rotfl:)

Jeez, time I went & "cooked" all this stuff...see you later!
