WB, good luck with the dentist later, you have my biggest sympathies, I'll never forget the pain of my mouth abcess (sp?) last month, I actually cried in public and I was all by myself  definately take the big brown tablets, xx
thanks Jo, oh I'll take them if given, it's just that I went thro all this only 2 weeks ago, is why had tooth out last week! Which was next door to the wisdom tooth I had out last year! I'll be gumming corned beef hash (yes I want it too now) at this rate (which takes me back to that kind offer from GC...:rotfl::whistle:)
:hello: GC!
Jo did you pay your parking fine? Have a look at the link YM posted earlier today....I'm now toying with ignoring it tho the prospect of the threats is a bit scary. Good luck for today don't forget the squash in the freezer! You sound like you've got a good day planned.
You & YM made me feel so lazy I went & put a load of washing in but bending over has made the whole side of my face throb & now it's clouding over (the sky, not my face).
I've been considering the "rock bottom" issue - this will sound moronic but sometimes I almost wish for a wake up call or a scare to stop me in my tracks...something that makes me WANT to drink less! Cos if I'm honest, the thing most holding me back is I don't want to enough. Erm, maybe I shouldn't be on here! I don't think I'm making sense really, spose what I mean is I want to in the long term....I can't uphold this level of drinking forever !!!!!!!...it's the doing it now I'm struggling with. No motivation (that's the word!!). Apart from my weight, but 5 days off the sherberts whilst simultaneouly subsisting on lettuce lost me no weight at all! Everyone I've mentioned my "big zero" birthday to has assumed I'm 40 not 50 so it's obviously keeping me well preserved.
Ho hum, maybe August will do it for me; my lucky month.0 -
I shouldn't still be here but wanted to reply to you WB...
Firstly, yes I did pay the fine, couldn't be bothered to do anything about it (a symptom of being an alcoholic), good luck if you decided to appeal, let us know how it goes.
Secondly, mash the hash up extra mushy then the CB Hash is all yours
Thirdly, I've hit rock bottom so many times it's frightening, but usually even then I don't want it enough so know where you're coming from. I almost want to say hope you hit rock bottom soon and really want it, but maybe that's wrong
I've just rung the drug & alcohol place, I've referred myself. They will be ringing me later today or Monday for a full assessment date....so first step taken

Before I go, thought I'd say well done to Caz, you have made a great start
Does your OH drink?
No, she doesn't. When we were first going out, we both used to enjoy going out, drinking lots of red wine and getting sloshed and drinking at home too. Over the last 3 or 4 years, my OH has just "gone off" drinking and nowadays she struggles to finish one bottle of Magners (if she actually buys one in the first place)!!
Her sobriety makes my excessive drinking all the more obvious at home. The terrible thing is that I continue to drink, despite her asking me to stop/cut down and I feel very guilty about that.
My OH isn't being unreasonable and we have never argued about it - I am generally a "happy drunk" so I don't get nasty or paranoid, but my OH has said that she doesn't like me when I've had a skinful, because I am "all over the place". I know what she means - I make a mess in the kitchen preparing food when I get the munchies and I've broken goodness knows how many plates and glasses........
We have discussed my drinking many times and each time I promise to cut down, but I always end up having a drink as a reward for abstaining for a few days, which then means that I either polish off whatever is in the house or go out and buy myself some voddy.
And I ALWAYS end up drinking my OH's booze! It really is quite embarrassing. She can quite happily leave 4 small bottles of cider in the fridge for months, but after I've scoffed my own drink and decide it's a good idea to drink some more, I don't care that it's not mine and I move onto hers too, whilst promising faithfully that I will buy her some more. Urrgghhh, the number of times that has happened....
I am hoping that this time things are different because I am promising myself I can deal with my alcohol problem. Time will tell. I must have faith in myself!
Hugs

Hi can I join? I'm not sure if I might have posted a few months ago but it kind of all fell by the wayside.
OH and I drink far too much. We drink less than we used to and we can actually manage a few AF days but the problem is we still get absolutely sloshed when we allow ourselves a 'treat'. (Dependning on how stressed we both are we might actually have a 'treat' most nights!)
We used to drink a serious amount but then i got pregnant so obviously stopped immediately (with no problems at all so I know I can do it). So I was off the booze for a year including the time i was feeding my DS. I promised myself I wouldnt get back into the same situation again but it's happened. Like I said, we're better than we were before I got pregnant but that's mainly because I work 4 nights a week and also a raging hangover when you've got a toddler is not a good thing! I'd like to get to a place where I can have a couple of glasses of wine on my night off without deciding its a good idea to finish the bottle and start on the sherry!
Hope you dont mind me posting but I've been reading and you seem like a nice bunch. Also it's nice to see that there are other people out there in a similar situation.
EDIT - not that it's nice that anyone is in this situation - i didnt mean that - i just meant it's reassuring to know i'm not alone!0 -
All this talk of food is making me hungry! Have just text OH to tell him I'm having a curry later so he should sort himself out!:rotfl:
:j:j:jTo Jo for scoring this month! Fantastic job missus!:j:j
Are you sure you don't want to carry on for another month!?

I hope you've turned a corner already, sounds like it. It's good that you can talk about it pretty openly to your OH.
Hi & welcome to wpfree (now you'll be wpf & everyone will get confused with wbf) - good luck to you. We're nice most of the time
Well I wanted a kick start & I've given myself one.....don't know WHY I've never thought of this before but I googled alcohol / gum disease and :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. So now I have an idea why the £££££££££££s I spend at the dentists / hygienist every year almost equals the ££££££££££££s I spend on wine!! He is always asking if I smoke but has never mentioned alcohol, & is mytified as to why I keep having such severe problems with my gums (my actual teeth are fine but there's less & less holding them in!).......amazing really that he's never asked the question & i've never made the link......next time I want to open that second bottle I'll try & focus on what I've been thro over the last 2 - 3 weeks. And now I've looked it up it's so bleedin' (scuse pun) obvious!
Off to watch Doctors now, intellectual that I am, & then you'know-where.0 -
