  • Well lets think...I think the hail hit me on the way BACK, about 2 miles after buxton on the way back to stockport, so it would have been about...7pm - 7.30pm ish?

I was just hitting the highest bit out of Buxton then, and looking forward to a nice 2 mile freewheel back into Whaley Bridge.

It's a bizarre frame of mind. You're knackered and cold, but it's exhilarating to be 'out there', all alone and exposed the elements, and then the hail starts coming down and bounces off your head and you just think "YEAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Would have been about 3 pm when our storm hit us.....at Dovedale...just south of Buxton/North of Ashbourne.

I know what you mean about the exhilaration of being `out there`.....I only discovered walking again recently but there is something so uplifting about just taking in the stunning views, fresh air &, of course, the exercise.

Makes you realise that life is good.....keeping fit both physically & mentally can cost nothing at all & bring the greatest rewards.....& in reality has nothing to do with your bank balance.

Very busy on here again today.

FH, I'm so pleased with your news, must be a huge relief.

GP, your biking total is truly amazing :T. SSA,I know what you mean about fresh air and walking. I'm determined to get back into the walking habit next month too. I did well in the winter and spring but have lapsed sadly. The exercise will do me good too.

YM, very well done on your own AFness:T Good luck with PB tomorrow.

Budgie, it's great to have you back posting, I have missed you.

Welcome to new virtual friends and goodnight to everyone. Sleep well. I'm just going to put a bit of slap on in case I have a major part in anyone's dreams tonight.

    1AFD please YM.

Well I'm down your way a lot, so if you ever see someone sweating / puffing / panting on a white bike, wearing various coloured snazzy combats and a hi-vis jacket, be sure to give me a yell!
  • Happy September everyone and well done to those who have been Alcohol free so far this Month:T

I was up in Matlock/Ashbourne yesterday it is so beautiful.

Not a good day for me today,in bed now with Camomile tea and Marian Keyes book.:j

Cut my own hair (fringe) hysterical is a word that springs to mind, just plucked up the courage to look at it properly----Aaaaaaaah!

Drove my car right over bricky barrier thingy on Asda car park earlier, lots of scraping crunching metal type noises. . I just carried on driving off the car park as if that is how I always drive,:mad:the man in the next car looked highly entertained! The DSs have looked and said it is O.K.

At least they help me these days, they didnt at end of my drinking.

Hope tomorrow is better but not sure what to do about the hair thing:rotfl:

To anyone struggling with Alcohol let go of the end of the towel then life gets so much better.
    Sobriety delivers everything Alcohol promised.

Alcohol free since May 23rd 2003.:D

Hi heath480......love Matlock...the hills are a killer but so beautiful. If you ever get chance to go upto the Black Rocks I can recommend it !

Sorry to hear its not been such a good day but I hope tomorrow will be better. Camomile tea & Marion Keyes is a great combination.
