Miss P, i notice you have 3 stars by your name... I now feel somewhat inferior and childish for celebrating my 1 star
The running really did help a lot, the first couple of mornings were tough as it was October so very cold and dark, but after the first week i was going to bed early excited about getting up early and getting some fresh air.

Thank god for that! Thats all thoughts of diets out of the window for me at the moment then! Not that I need much incentive to forget dieting!
Guess theres a lot of sense in that theory. There's huge amounts of sugar in alcohol so your body is bound to miss it.

As alcoholics, our bodies are so used to the huge amounts of sugar and calories which are found in all types of alcoholic drinks (not just the sugary sweet ones) that to deprive ourselves of those calories AND to cut down what we are eating as well, is not a good thing.
I've been told to drink sugary drinks, such as full sugar sprite (not coke - caffeine overload!) while I am trying to stop drinking at first, as it will help my body with the transition to being without alcohol altogether.
So although I really do need to slim down, it isn't my priority just now.
(And I don't need telling twice to eat nice food and drink fizzy pop )
Hugs,
Caz

I have said on here quite a few times about the sugar addiction thing that I think a lot of people who drink suffer from. When I stopped drinking for 6 months I started drinking a bottle of 2litre coke almost everyday for the first month!
I have read a book by an American woman... I will try and remember what it's called in a minute and she said that cutting out sugars completely would help in the long run if you were stopping drinking. I have never managed to do it though!:rolleyes:HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Seven Weeks to Sobriety by Joan Mathews Larson PhD. It is supposed to have a 74% success rate. She does advise you buy a lot of vitamins which I didn't do but I think that is for people who are seriously heavy drinkers and have made their bodies really ill.
The book obviously hasn't worked for me but I thought would tell other people about it!:o;)HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Don't worry....I do the same each time I get a star!!
Nope - still not sold on the whole running thing. As anyone that knows me would tell you, I don't DO running! Brisk walking is pushing it a bit too!!:rotfl:**Keep Calm and Carry On!**0 -
Good, i'm glad i'm not the only one! I have a feeling it'll be a long long time until star number two arrives though.AF since 06/02/20100

Caz, thanks for posting the link - clearly I wouldn't have thought of that and would have sat here typing it out!!!:o
For anyone that is going to make it, don't go mad with the chicken stock. I always find you probably only need about a third of her recommended amount, otherwise it goes a bit sloppy. HTH the Friday Cook Crew!!

Jo, well done on this morning, and I am so glad she was positive - I hope this allows you to feel positively about yourself too, you really should. Hope you are having a good day, and smiling.

This is so true.
Its a drug and a terrible drug. Yet nearly every soap or drama you turn on the tv makes it seem a trivial thing and people having hangovers is something to laugh at.
I disagree that drink is terrible
What I do know that it is terrible inside me.
When it is in a bottle, with the cork in the top, I don't find it threatening.
I do agree that the consequences of untreated alcoholism are nasty and far reaching. It screws families up for generations0 -

I have been craving cakes and sweets all week because I have had so much less alcohol. I have a sweet tooth anyway but this week I have bought wine gums, fruit gums (why did they change fruit gums, they were much better before!), coffee cake, carrot cake, chewy mints. Ive been craving those toffee bon bons but can't find any anywhere. Im really tempted to visit aquarterof.co.uk!
Much better to eat sweets than drink though.:p0
