Jo 1972 - I kind of wish i hadn't mentioned the curry as it's all i can think about now!AF since 06/02/20100

Mmm......curry.........
Was wondering what to have for dinner tonight.....think my minds just been made up for me!**Keep Calm and Carry On!**0 -
I slept like a log last night, but still had to peel myself off the mattress. I feel exhausted all the time at the moment.
I had a bit of a cry this morning when my OH (happy birthday darling!!:D) dropped me off at work and I dropped and broke a plate I was taking into my office, virtually as soon as I had walked into work.
So that made me cry too.
Me thinks I am feeling rather emotional at the moment!!
It's a beautiful day out there and my OH is off work and it's her birthday and I would like to go home and spend the day with her. But I'm stuck here until 5pm so I'd better put those thoughts out of my silly head. Meh.
It's my 2nd AA meeting tonight, but in a completely different area, much further away, as there aren't any meetings local to me on a Friday evening. I hope I don't get lost
For those of you who aren't chained to a desk today - have a good one and enjoy the lovely weather.
Hugs and love,
Caz

Morning everyone.:hello:
Had to open a bottle of red to make bolognese last night and so had a glass with my dinner. How do you AF people deal with this? Do you just not cook with alcohol?
I followed this with Malibu and don't feel too bad this morning just a bit tired. I have come to the conclusion though that I don't really like alcohol any more. I love that first glass but every glass after that doesn't really do anything for me except make me tired. I left a glass of red in the bottle so that I can have it with my tea tonight and aren't tempted to open a new bottle. I don't really want to follow it up with Malibu though. Perhaps I should just give the wine to my OH to drink instead?
I want to go to the docs about my skin itching and ask him for a liver test. Will he just do this for me? Has anyone done this?
My worry is that:
a) My liver is fine and it will make me think "Great, it doesn't matter if I have a few drinks"
b) My liver is not fine!
Sorry to waffle on this morning but I just seem to spend most of my life thinking about alcohol and whether Im having any today and I don't want to have to think about it any more.:rolleyes:0 -

Beachbeth, we haven't spoken before so I hope you don't mind me butting in. But what strikes me reading your post is that you sound like you are in a good place to stop. I was thinking exactly the same way as you the day I had my last drink (well not the malibu bit I admit:eek:). It is so liberating not to have to worry about this stuff any longer.
I did have to stop using alcohol in cooking, it was just too tempting to have it there as I would always start drinking when I started to cook. I just changed the recipes for a while. No big deal. Now (3 months AF today:j:j:j) I do put wine in again and have done for past 3 weeks, but I get OH to open it and I put the bottle away somewhere immediately I've finished. Like other posters say, it's cunning stuff, so I don't want to risk a sudden impulse to swig it.0 -
When I read the post about Malibu, I thought mmm and I haven't drunk that since I was about ahem, 13 years old. I used to mix it with milk, how utterly revolting.:D
Can't argue with that!got me to put the malibu back:o:o
Jeez, not you too......what is it with this stuff??
WELL DONE for last night - fantastic. & WELL DONE FAY!! I have this vision now of Jo frantically texting from the booze aisle...thanks too to MOB for keeping Jo on the straight & narrowMiss_Piggy wrote: »Mmm......curry.........

I followed this with Malibu
I'm sorry, but......:rotfl:sorry.
I'm thinking I'll go to my GP after my holiday next week, esp if after my hols I carry on as I have been as I will finally finally finally have run out of excuses / reasons to postpone taking action. He will do it for you.0 -

If your liver is fine and you keep drinking then the chances are that some day it won't be fine. And for some people it's too late by then, see tangochick's heartrending post of a few days ago.
The question I had to ask myself when I finally let myself think about the risks - 30 years down the line:o - was whether it was easier to stop now or to wait till my drink habit got even more established. I admitted to myself that it wasn't going to get any easier and I would just carry on having the same conversation with myself if I didn't stop.0 -
Good morning, well done to everyone who achieved their goals last night.
Good luck today Jo and tonight Caz, hope it goes well for you both.
I am glad to report that DS1 seems much better today, although we had a pretty rough night. DS1 was in bed with me from about midnight, very hot and feeling rough, then DH rolled in wobbling and extremely p***ed. When I eventually got rid of him to the spare room, after he had jibbered inane nonsense for a while, DS1 wriggled and wriggled until about 2.30 before he eventually fell back asleep, and then the other wee ones were up at 6.30.
Bit tired today. Early night, more AF, and mellow meatballs for me tonight.
Happy Friday everyone.
