Well this is goodbye from me for 8 or 9 days - leaving work early to go to the dentist then off on hols, no wi fi :eek:.
So, hope you all have a good week & find yourselves where you want to be in a weeks time.
When I come back I'll be 50 :eek::eek::eek::eek: (one for each decade!) it's my birthday while we're away, & will hopefully be full of resolve & willpower to mend my ways.
Good luck everyone0 -
Morning everyone.:hello:
Had to open a bottle of red to make bolognese last night and so had a glass with my dinner. How do you AF people deal with this? Do you just not cook with alcohol?
I followed this with Malibu and don't feel too bad this morning just a bit tired. I have come to the conclusion though that I don't really like alcohol any more. I love that first glass but every glass after that doesn't really do anything for me except make me tired. I left a glass of red in the bottle so that I can have it with my tea tonight and aren't tempted to open a new bottle. I don't really want to follow it up with Malibu though. Perhaps I should just give the wine to my OH to drink instead?
I want to go to the docs about my skin itching and ask him for a liver test. Will he just do this for me? Has anyone done this?
My worry is that:
a) My liver is fine and it will make me think "Great, it doesn't matter if I have a few drinks"
b) My liver is not fine!
Sorry to waffle on this morning but I just seem to spend most of my life thinking about alcohol and whether Im having any today and I don't want to have to think about it any more.
If this was your son or daughter, or husband or wife, or a parent, writing this you would be saying 'Just get yourself to the doctor'
You have a fear of knowing, and also you have a fear of not knowing. Not a good place to be in. At least by finding out you take away the uncertainty.
That's why alcoholism is such a powerful illness. It makes one so irrational. The addiction is so strong.
Even though it can make you ill, you still drink.
Even though you say you don't like it any more, you still drink.
When all common sense is screaming 'don't drink' you still drink
If you get the all clear from the Dr, you will wait until you are unwell before stopping, as opposed to stopping now.

I'm finding it very hard to cope on my own. No friends/family in this area & her parents are overseas. Very much want her to continue home treatment but hospital is where she thinks she'd be better off (crazy I know).
I'm sorry to read that.xI'm thinking I'll go to my GP after my holiday next week, esp if after my hols I carry on as I have been as I will finally finally finally have run out of excuses / reasons to postpone taking action. He will do it for you.
Have a great holiday!!!!! (even though you won't see this message until you get back from it!:D)
 Yellowmonkey - good to see you back.
I am really thirsty, I'm wondering if the milk thistle is making me thirsty (or it could be the alcohol obviously.) I'm off to drink some more water.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Its a drug and a terrible drug. Yet nearly every soap or drama you turn on the tv makes it seem a trivial thing and people having hangovers is something to laugh at.:rolleyes:0 -

A thought occurred to me earlier. For people who have given up drinking, do you do anything instead as a replacement? ie smoking? Or are most people on here AF free, smoke free, drug free etc?0
