  • Morning everyone. Just a quick post / update. I postponed hitting the 2nd half of the bottle for as long as possible last night.....kept doing things about the house......the things I would normally postpone in order to sit on the sofa with a glass of wine. Did 2 hours ironing with a pint of squash, lots of paperwork, shredding etc and finally sat down at 10pm with a glass of wine. I dont think I've managed to get past 7.30pm in the last 2 years!! I was in bed reading by 11pm and lights out not long after.......I woke WITHOUT the alarm (an hour before it!!) for the first time in god knows how long at 6.30am, feeling better of a morning than I have for months if not years!

The support on here is fantastic - you guys are great - and the 'feeling' I had this morning was also fantastic......enough to push me to say that today I WILL NOT stop at Co-op on the way home and I'm aiming for my first AF day in years.

Have a good day folks.......I really think that whilst I was lurking around on this thread for a few weeks, actually posting, hopefully is the start of a better way of life for me! However, I know it's going to be very difficult , so one day at a time and today is the first!!

    xx

An ugly biker walks into his local pub with a big grin on his face.
"What are you so happy about?" asks the barman.
"Well, I'll tell you," replies the ugly man. "You know, I live by the railway. Well, on my way home last night, I noticed a young woman tied to the tracks, like in the movies.
I, of course, went and cut her free and took her back to my place. Anyway, to make a long story short, I scored big time!
We made love all night, all over the house. We did everything, me on top, sometimes her on top, every position imaginable!"
"Fantastic!" exclaimed the barman. "You lucky guy. Was she pretty?"
    "Dunno...Never found the head."

Oh god, sorry mods, take it out if you have to :o

115k just read your post and I can totally identify with you regarding the depression thing, I suffered pnd and had terrible side effects with the medication (was not on it for that long as I took myself off the tablets) but I still think I am possible suffering a bit of depression and I think I use alcohol for that reason really.....
Must be awful for you to have had alcoholic parents, although (and please don't start any debates on this) I do believe that there is such a thing as an addictive gene...
You are at least trying to cut down and are aware of the dangers which is a good thing xx

    Thanks 69chick.:A

I haven't been doing very well this month again though. Still only 2 days AF I'm afraid.

So many new people on here I can't keep track, but then it doesn't take much to confuse me lol.:D

  • Jo - Great joke, loved it, ha haaaaaaaaaaa! (But then I am a bit of a sicko;) ;);)).

Colours for your kitchen and bathroom sound really brave - orange bathroom - wooo hooo! I am so boring when it comes to colour in our house - basically there isn't any, ha ha. I'm a neutral browns and creams gal. I think my OH would secretly LOVE to slap some purple on the walls, but that just ain't gonna happen, tee hee!!

Also, thanks for the positive comments about me abandoning my OH on her birthday evening, to go to an AA meeting. I totally agree that I'm sure she would rather wave goodbye to me going to an AA meeting than watch me sit down with a quadruple measure of vodka and tonic served up in my "usual" pint glass!!!!

Gromit - fantastically well done. I hope you have a successful AFD! :j
