    Indeed :o. Not yet......but......

Many people stop after the have caused much damage and pain to their loved ones.
I wish they would stop before, but alcoholism is such a powerful illness that it fights to stay alive inside yourself. Many people die from the illness after causing decades of pain to others.
I didn't want that to be me. I know that it is a progressive illness. It gets worse, not better if untreated.

I don't know anyone who has stopped who wishes they hadn't stopped drinking earlier, but as I always say, you need to be desperate enough to honestly, truly, want to stop.
Fortunately, there are not too many desperate people on this thread. Part of me hopes they never get desperate, as it is a horrible place to be.
However, the 'gift' of desperation is that many people really start putting the action in to stop drinking

Alcoholism is a nasty illness - good luck people

I managed not to have the Malibu earlier. Completely alcohol free night and I got on with some knitting that needs finishing.:D Sorry to sound smug!

Im trying to remind myself of how fed up I feel in the mornings when Ive been drinking and this is stopping me having any. Even though I had a row with DD1 earlier and normally this would have stressed me enough to have one!

I hope you are right, Jo, and that it is going to be tropical next week. We could do with some summer weather before winter starts.

Good luck and keep going everyone!

    Well done Beachbeth :T:T

Malibu also reminds me of holidays .... it reminds me of a suntan oil I used many years ago which smelt of coconuts. I did use to drink Malibu & coke many moons ago but alas DH cannot stand the taste or smell of coconuts therefore Malibu & many Thai curries:eek::eek::eek:
have been banished from our house.

    You are doing well. :T:T

    BTW What are you knitting?

Its 21%. I just love that coconutty taste (is coconutty a word?). It reminds me of being on holiday.

this is the bit I really don't get.

for some reason, when I read this I wanted some!! not seriously..just...I had an urge that I'd like some...the bit where a part of your brain says...."go on....it's been ages...why not"...even to the point of persuasion that it tastes different therefore it's justified....

    yeah right.

    hmmm...constant vigilance...always!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
