Hi Fayjmck
thanks for your reply at the mo I am feeling quite low as I am at home, my day off, when i am kept busy at work I don't have time to think about drinking, my bad time off day is 6:30 ish when I get in from work, I sit down and have one drink,Thinking I'll just have the one then get going on house work then it's another and an other and the house work dose not get done.
Needless to say I am at the stage where every thing has got on top of me, the house is untidy, we are terrible hoarders and I know realize I can only take small steps. Like you I am going to put my wine money in a jar at home and at the end of each week I am either going to pay it of one debt or have a small treat i.e.a hair cut, hopefully I to will start to loss the weight which i need to do (5 stone)
It will be hard to avoid temptation to buy booze as I work at mr S. what i will do is leave my debit card at home and only have enough money on me for tea and coffees while at work(I already take my own lunch)
Mumofboys Glad to hear that you are doing so well to stay af since last Thursday only hope I can be as good as you, you have given me great insperation, I know that there will be days when I slip, but then it's a case of getting back on the wagon with you all.
So what am I looking forward to(as I only want to look forward not back) being able to get up in the morning not feeling groggy all day.
Knowing that if i am not spending money on booze (approx£168.99 a month) this is going toards some of my debt.
Getting my respect for my self back ,I know like mumofboys this will take time.
And losing weight, eating more healthy.
And if I sucssed (no when I sucssed )get my other half to stop.
Sorry for the long post will keep you updated but thanks for your help, this is the first day of the rest of my life.

Dee,
Take everything in small steps, don't think too far in advance. Everything is manageable this way. If even thinking for the day is too long, think for the hour, that's what I do, at times I think for the minute! If you get a craving, take stock, go through the pros and cons in your head and wait for it to pass, busy yourself then feel proud that you got through that moment. Don't worry about later till it comes. Good luck
I really should be cleaning, funny how the cleaning vibes flew out the window so quickly, maybe it's because I cleaned the windows earlier and left them too far open
Come back cleaning vibes  :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi Dee and welcome :j
I tend not to plan for anything and then when I have an AFD I am really pleased with myself. Like Jo, if the wine bells go, I talk myself out of it for say, half an hour. I then forget about drinking because I'm busy doing something else.
So don't sit down with the first drink. Go do something else instead but you don't have to promise not to drink at all, just not right at that moment. You'll soon find that your evening passes and you can go to bed early with a clear head.
I haven't done very well this month so far. But I have been doing better. I went about 6 months without even one AFD. So to make it to 10 last month was a good achievement for me. That was with a two week holiday. So I should be doing better this month
Much love XNeed to start again0 -
:hello: to barneydee and beachbeth welcome to the mad house.. or is that just my impression of this thread....
I appear to have a very wobbly wheel on my wagon this week.... and last week.. don't like these school hols much, upset my working week/weekends... so rubbish on the AFD front... but I will get better.... unfortunately i don't see it improving much as away on hols soon.. but september is on its way and that is going to be my month for getting everything sorted...August has just run away from me.. much like July did....
Good Luck Caz with your meeting tonight, hope it goes well for you, do tell us all about it later.. x
Fay/jo... what's with all this decorating..? sounds like a good way to stay AF, maybe I should get myself down to B & Q....
:hello: to MOB, well done you.... glad your wheels are not as wobbly as mine, despite the hols...keep it up, I shall be chasing you soon...!
I'm defo with Fay on the not having it in the house system.. I can ignore any Alcohol that is here that is not white/red wine.. they are my downfalls... so DON'T BUY IT THEN... is what i'm shouting at myself...money saved and weight loss are all the perks of not drinking.. not really rocket science is it.....
Anyhow's been to work and now off to collect DD from wherever I left her today.. good job I have a chart or i'd not know where to go.... (7 sources of childcare...)..
Hugs to those who want/need one. xx

Hi - well I've ummed and awed about posting on here but I guess deep down I must want to get some support as I am posting now!
I know for a fact I drink far too much, particularly for my size. I've always been small, under 7 stone. I never seem to be able to leave anything in the wine bottle once it is opened. I have a bottle of wine every night, nearly always white as I prefer it. Occasionally I will buy red because I think I'll drink it slower as I dont like it as much but almost always without fail, this would get finished too.
I really need to stop or at least cut down. A close friend has shown concern for my drinking and I took total offence to his concern, probably because the 'truth hurts'.
I tend to go even more mad at weekends and feel like sh** Monday mornings and invariably am almost always late for work on a Monday!
I guess I'm posting on here so that I can just feel part of something and maybe this will make it easier to cut down.
Cheers xx0 -
Hi...Yup that pain in the side is your liver...(!) I dare not look up WHY it hurts but a Doctor friend of mine years ago said that the liver can get tender if its abused!
I notice that when i stop alcohol for any significant period of time the 'pain' does go. I also notice my eyesight is better (used to have eye aches which seem to be nearly gone)...have not got to the 'whites of the eyes being completely white' yet (still a very slight tinge of yellow at edges...hardly noticable)...like being fresh in the am...also the weight loss is nice! Also for some reason face is much thinner!0 -
Jo1972 thanks for your comments have just been reading your post, you where very brave in telling your oh, I keep telling my other half that I have got a problem and that he also has,but were as I can see it he can't It is going to be hard to do when he has alcohol (Lager) in the house mind you I don't like lager but it is going to make it harder
Do you think that there is such a thing as an additive nature, my dd who is sixteen is showing signs, coca cola she drinks loads of it and if she hasn't got any she is very bad tempered. I think she is also drinking so this is an other reason that i want to stop as I do not want her going down the same road.
Gromit2303 I think you are at about the same point as me so perhaps we can support each other.
Mumofboys I looked back at your first post and the difference in just a few days is very good you sound so much happy now:j I hope in a weeks time I will be feeling as good as you Thanks again to all of you lovely people I now that with your support I can beat my demons.;)

Aargh, tell me about it...I have a real problem with that but have been de-cluttering big time for about 4 years now - the staff at Oxfam run & hide when they see me coming - & it's worth doing. I've still got far too much useless stuff in the house but I'm getting there. I might even pass on DD's nappies one day (erm, she's 10...). To make it easier on myself (it can be hard getting rid of stuff!) I have a "holding area"; I'll be really ruthless & chuck out loads but only into the spare room, then I go back to it a few weeks later, & almost always find I can then get rid with no qualms. I still feel extremely sorry for anyone having to sort this place out if I get run over by the proverbial bus tomorrow :rotfl:gromit2303 wrote: »I've always been small, under 7 stone.

You and I are SO not going to get on
Sorry just joking (some would say I have a real problem there, too) - welcome, gromit, well done for posting on here there's loads of help around.
MOB you sound like a different person already! was it really only last thursday?
I've got an indoor swimming pool! Unfortunately it's in DD's bedroom......currently getting quotes to have a new roof  (it's in a bad way; beyond patching up) that'll curtail the wine budget.........0 -
Hey thanks Barneydee and Winebox.
I'm reading back through old posts and feel I am getting inspiration already. However, the demon in my head is already playing with me. It's getting near to home time, and I'm already asking do I stop via Co-op!! If I buy red instead of white, maybe I wont drink all the bottle tonight and try leave half for tomorrow. I have these urges every day! I am still feeling rough from the weekend and know that 'hair of the dog' always helps - or at least it feels like it does. Really I know it's just covering up the problem.
Ho hum, going to try and use the putting it off for a half hour tactic and keep at that tonight and see how it goes.
God where's my will power that I honestly used to have before I started to drink every day!0 -
Hi Winebox, yup was only last Thursday, and I do feel so different. I needed to do something, but only with support etc etc....
BTW Pizza was some kind of salami and caramelised onion. My favourite weird one had banana and ham on which actually was delicious....
