    Morning all,

Just a real quickie for me cos me and kids didn't wake up till 10am  and I got lots and lots of preparing to do for my decorating fest tomorrow and if I sit on here and read back properly and reply to you all then I'll get too comfy ;)

Just wanted to say hi to BeachBeth, welcome back! (We call BudgetBabe Budgie now so we can go back to calling you BB with no confusion :D), I'll reply back to you later properly :)

Dee, welcome (think I might remember welcoming you some time ago ), I'll also welcome you properly later, take a seat on the wagon next to Fay, but save a seat for me cos I promised Fay I would make sure she don't fall off tonight :D

Budgie, take care my dear and get all the help you need, you also remember that you can email me anytime :) xx

Caz, what time's your meeting? Well done on telling OH, she sounds very supportive, was she worried about you? Well done girly, make sure you come back later and let us know how it went xx

Right, would love to sit on here all morning, but then I won't do anything so I'll be back later. The earlier I come back means the less I've done  I really want to go away for a couple of days next week so I've promised myself that I must do all my decorating this week so my conscience is clear to leave the house next week :D

    Bye Bye!!! xx

Just popping in to wish Caz well for tonight.I have no words of wisdom for anyone trying to cut down on drinking,it never worked for me,sometimes it did for a while, once did three years without drinking when my children were little, but had no idea then that I am an Alcoholic,my drinking then became slowly worse and it took many years (17 actually),but at the end it got worse very quickly.I tried Doctors, counselling and doing it myself but it just didnt work,I always picked up that first drink eventually, never realising that is the drink that does the damage. It is now over 6years since my last drink, when I made the decision I tackled it with urgency. It took a while for the desire for a drink and the obsession with it to go,but it did go as I was told it would. Well Caz I will be with you in my thoughts at the meeting tonight.Love and hugs to everyone else:j. Off to swim in the openair pool, overcast and drizzling here bit different to yesterday!

  • Good afternoon to all,

I hope you had a good weekend. I was doing a great impression of a whirling dervish for most of it, so I'm sorry I didn't manage to post.

Quick update - I have been completely AF since my first unhappy post last Thursday. This despite family party yesterday, when I didn't even wet my lips with the champagne for the toast - yippee!:j

Jo How are you going? I hope Saturday night was ok in the end. I know what you mean about rubbish telly. We are LoveFilm addicts where they send you movies from your list in the post and you send them back in pre paid envelopes. I refuse to spend money on a babysitter to go to the cinema so hadn't seen movies for ages, so this really works for us!

BHB Parents / In laws????:mad::mad: Just for your info, my kitchen cupboard is great space but apparently it is such a shame it is so badly organised...................

BarneyDee and Beach Beth - I first posted on this site last Thursday, feeling sad, scared, and quite unable to talk to anyone. The people on here are second to none. I have been AF since - although I am sure there will be blips along the way. I feel so much better about myself. I have faced work issues I have been sticking my head in the sand about. I have talked to OH about how I feel. Someone on here (Sorry, I can't remember which lovely peep without checking back) mentioned about getting your pride back. I don't feel it's there yet, but it is coming, and that big black cloud that was hanging over me? It's not gone, but it is now mid grey, and I feel much more able to tell it to get lost.

Yes, I am thinking at around 3pm about a glass of wine, by 6pm I am pretty ratty, but actually by 9pm I am feeling good that it's not in my hand.

All I can do is wish you the very best in however you decide to tackle things. I can promise you that everyone on here is supportive, kind, funny, and have helped me so much in just 5 days. Thank you guys!

Glad to have you both on board. Welcome.

Right, things to do, and the amazing thing is - I know what they are, and how to prioritize them, and I am going to do them!!

Love to all of you, and hope you are all doing well.

Sorry for the gushy post, but you gotta say these things...

ETA: I watched the clock yesterday and it was 2 minutes 30 seconds after they walked through the door before they said stuff that wasn't 'appropriate'. They hadn't even sat down !!

Does anyone have links to sites that tell you the physical benefits of abstaining? Would be interested to know the physical 'plus's of say having a month of alcohol, ie what things heal, improve...would be very motivational!

not exactly, but I have found a lot of this stuff inspirational. Well worth a look.

You've reminded me that I meant to keep a diary of my AF progress (but I forgot:o). Main physical change for me from being AF is being awake after 8.30pm instead of flaked out on the sofa, and well rested in the morning instead of feeling permanently groggy. And the pain in my side has gone, and my eyes are brighter (the whites are really white now). Thread veins on my face - apparently these are caused by alcohol, who knew? - are less noticeable.

ETA And, most important, I feel free - completely liberated from not having to bother about alcohol. Stuff like planning when I can get some, worrying if it will be enough, am I sober enough to drive, what if there's an emergency, and all of that.

What pluses have others noticed from cutting down/being AF?

Just a real quickie, I'm enjoying the cleaning so much that I won't be around this arvo  odd behaviour

So just wanted to say to Caz, just remember that everyone in that room has walked in there for the first time too and they will all know what it feels like and will be there to support you. Good luck :)

And Fay, dunno if I'll be around virtually tonight as I shall be washing the walls in preperation for the painting (thinking I'm gonna paint it green??), BUT I will be around textually if you need it, hold on tight to that wagon girl, I made sure it's been in for a service so the ride won't be so bumpy :D

ETA: well done MOB, that's fantastic :j:j:j
