    'Evening all

Cazza, you obviously want to tell your OH (otherwise I'm sure you could find a parking spot) so go for it! We'll be here for you whatever (or should that be wha*ever).

BB, do try to drop in during the week. I do so understand why you want to let DS do his own thing/concentrate on his career&life but you need some support too. Try talking to the GP about you as well as OH and remember we're here for you.

Good to hear from you Eselt, in my mind you live in a lovely place where I'm sure (today) the sun is shining. Hope Piglet went down well Miss P and enjoy your meal later Fay (and trip to Mr A I suppose 24hr shopping is unusual for you).

    AF tonight making it 5AFD

Only had one bottle of Lakeland Beer last night to remember our dog. Just a few tears today welling up when I took my other dog for a walk and remembering him.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and wishes, very greatfully received :A

I hope you don't mind me popping in here. Ive been here before but not for a while. Ive started by reading back a few pages and the first post I read was Tangochicks. It really makes you think. Everyone always thinks it won't happen to them and the trouble is you just don't know. My parents are in their late 70's and have drunk heavily for years and so my hope is that I take after them (in that they obviously haven't died of liver cirrosis), but I can't assume that drinking won't make me ill or worse. So sorry to hear what happened, Tango.

Ive suffered with depression for years and sometimes when Im tearful a drink is the only thing that stops me crying. But, as others have said, that one drink leads to another and before you know it you're waking up with a hangover.

Just recently Ive found if I drink strong stuff like vodka or gin I get a bad headache for 2-3 days and its horrible. I only have to have a couple of glasses for it to happen. I can stick to Malibu and have no trouble. Im just so lethargic and tired in the mornings though and its making me fed up. Every morning I think "I won't drink today" but by teatime Im craving my first drink and usually give in.:o

For the past few days Ive been itchy and Im either scratching my arms or my legs or my head and Ive put it down to the heat. However, I read on one website that liver trouble can make you itch so its worried me. I'd like to go to the doctor and ask for a liver test but one of the doctors in my practice is on holiday until next week and Im not comfortable enough to go to the other one.

Does anyone know what he's likely to say if I do go along and say Im worried about my drinking? Will they do a blood test or something to see what shape my liver is in or is there some other way?

Ive realised what a long post this is now and hope nobody minds but I just needed to get a few things off my chest.

See a GP - none of us are qualified to give a diagnosis on this stuff.
If one is worried about they amount they are drinking, it normally always means one is drinking far too much.
All I know is what I have experienced - I stopped drinking and my depression went, and a lot of anxiety was lifted.
I got healthier in mind and body.

Some of my friends had skin complaints that vanished, and other conditions that practically disappeared when they put down the bottle.
Most of them glow with health and vitality now.

Been catching up, and have to say what a caring senstive bunch this thread has got. I think you are all wonderful.

Actually made it to 4/14 AF, but it was a struggle. Lots of wrestling with myself. This week I have my late DH 's family arriving. There will be alcohol. I may be off the the wagon, but on the other hand I may suggest a drive out one or two evenings so I can avoid the stuff. We'll see.

  • I blerted it out after I'd just got out of the shower this morning and promptly burst into tears - not a good look, ha ha!

I'd been dreaming about the meeting and about telling my OH about it all night, so I was practically bursting when I woke up, but I also felt sad and nervous too. But I had nothing to worry about she was totally fine and supportive and we had some cuddles and a few tears together.

So a good start me thinks. :D

Just got to get work over with today and then it's all go for the meeting tonight! I honestly have no idea what to expect, except, hopefully, some welcoming and friendly people.

So I will update you lovely people tomorrow, about how it goes.

    Hugs

Hello all...well not over happy with myself as for the 2nd night running had booze...vodka to be precise! Whilst 2 nights ago I actually enjoyed the vodka (at the time!) last night I did not. I drank more than the night before & quite vividly remember thinking 'but I'm not drunk'!! With me the danger is getting back in to the daily habit...all this for me is a learning curve & I'm getting to learn how my 'drinking brain' thinks.

Still...in the last 11 days I've had less alcohol than the usual probably for years!

I'm remaining positive & will be AF today & stick to my 21 in August & I'm setting myself a little challenge of 8 consecutive days AF.OVERALL I LOOK/FEEL so MUCH BETTER -MY FACE IS MUCH THINNER (any other chaps/blokes notice how the face gets bloated/fat looking/??!)...& have been happier.

G/F needs lots of support too. As i guess my liver is stronger for my AF days my hangover/depressed feeling is nowhere near as bad as usual...however all the bad things like not being able to drive till early afternoon just bring home how crap heavy drinking is!

Catch you all later! SO 7 AF DAYS for me so far in August...

just popped in to say Good Luck to Caz

Intended to be Af last night and then ended up having a glass of wine at friend's, a cider and a glass of wine back at home. I did stop before I finished the bottle though - so again an improvement

    2 Af days now planned
