Yes-DEFFO only 2 glasses! Was typing very fast (!) Should have been '4' units & 2 glasses!

very slight urge at 6-15pm ish...but had some robinsons zero calorie squash & urge gone straight away...funny how sweet things work!

Cass-brave decision! We all want to cope in different ways but isn't the religious side of AA an issue for some people?? Also this 'day at a time' thing in some way elavates alcohol to this hideous 'all-controlling' thing which in my opinion it is not?? Just my opinion but are you 100% sure you want that complete 'AA lifestyle' or could you not persevere on here a bit longer-or try some other tactics? Why not google 'smart recovery'-the tools are FREE (I think on the UK site) & may help??? Wahtever you decide to do its BRILL that you admit you have an issue but make sure that AA is right for you....

    Evening All,

I am sitting here with my Ginger Beer for Our Alcohol Free Friday....Let the fun begin :T:T . Its nice to be sitting here at 8.30 pm alert & awake and not staring at the bottom of a wine glass. It is also nice to know that I won't have a hangover when I have to get up to take my 5 yr old to football in the morning:T

    Have a good evening all.

    Tangochick,

Thank you so much for your post earlier . It was so kind & thoughtful of you to think of others at a time which must be unbearable for you. I know it must have been very difficult for you to write, so many many thanks again . ((Hugs)) to you:A

    Budgie

I am very worried about you. Is it being unwell that is making you teary ? How long is it before you go and see DS ? I really hate to think of you in tears as you are such a little treasure . Have lots of rest and take good care of you. ((Hugs)):A

Sorry if any of this is wrong - not feeling 100% this evening. Bath and early bed called for methinks.

Budgie - ((hugs)). I hope you are feeling a bit brighter this evening. Do you think a trip to the doctor is called for? You've been through a bit lately. I really feel for you. Piglet sends you an extra special hug.

    Hi all

Oh Tangochick, my heart goes out to you and your little ones, thank you so much for posting-my SIL died of alcoholism at 36 and we never really believed it could get you so young until it actually happened-shocking (Hugs).

Jo- thinking of you this weekend, throw enough at this problem and something will eventually stick-cross my fingers for you.

Cazza-well done, brave you-I could never go to AA as the anxiety I used to feel about meeting a new group of people would petrify me and I'd need a drink to get through the door....so hats of to those who do, whatever helps.

Best of luck to everyone tonight and over the weekend-kudzu at the ready folks.

I kind of understand your points but the religious aspect is pretty much take it or leave it.

I did none of their steps and processes - I went along to meet people and understnad what I had done and how to get out.

THe essntial thing to me was to know my enemy and to do that I had to go and listen to folks talk and have some time to myself to figure it out.

They asked me to believe in a higher power - it could be anything I liked so I thought of future with my my wife and children as I believed the notion of them was stronger than any wish to carry on my existence as it was.

There were no religious requirements placed on me - all they asked was that I had a desire to stop drinking....

I cannot say the right words for you tangochick - I have tears in my eyes as I selfishly think of how close I and others came to this.

I am so sorry for your loss. Take special care.

Well done Jo :T for fessing up to your OH last night.. and I wish you well on your forward journey in AF Land.. I know nothing about the AA or other such organisations but I  having external sources to talk to..(what is this thread if not an external source...!) can only be a good thing, and if Jo and Caz feel this is what they require then good on ya... I wish you and everyone well on there journeys... Any help that can be given is positive, you don't have to do either/or you can stay with us and go to meetings...(I assume????). Anyhow's enough rambling from me tonight... My journey well I am going on holiday soon, does that count? :rotfl:

Think me ready for zzzzzzzzzzzz land.. hugs to all. xx
