Caz, good for you hun
As RA has said, try the meeting and if you don't feel you fit in, try another. Don't be nervous, it's just a room of people that all have something in common. Nobody will judge you, everybody will empathise
Let us know how you get on xx

Hi Jo
Well done! That is such a big hurdle, and it's behind you now. I was literally holding my breath reading your post.
Have a good day, and keep going.

Despite my posts that I will try harder not to drink and to have some AFDs, it just hasn't happened. I've got drunk every night this week except Monday. I really do need some help - I hate to say it, but I don't think I can give up on my own.
I believe alcoholism is an illness, and for most illnesses we get help to recover, so this is no difference.
Problem shared is a problem halved etcSo I'm going to my first AA meeting on Monday evening  I'm scared s*tless and I'm upset just typing this and having to admit that I need to attend an AA meeting, but I am going to do it. It's in my diary now!
Can you get to an earlier one if poss? If yo are going to feel uncomfortable for a few days, then perhaps it would be best to get to one in the next 24 hrs.
The AA phoneline 0845 769 7555 can point you in the direction, and have someone go with you if you don't want to turn up alone. There are 4 meetings local to me, so I can get to any one of them quite easily, so on most days, even on a Sunday, I can go along if I am feeling weak. I hope I get on ok with the meetings - I know they aren't for everyone, but I've got to try.
You have to want it enough. Many people need it, but don't want it. If you really want to stop drinking, it will work. It works for many (those that want it), but not all.
The more meetings you go to, the better you get and happier you feel.
Generally, they are full of happy, healthy, well people, who are welcoming and nice.Hugs,

You'll be fine - you are doing a great, life-changing thing.
Alcohol has beaten you - it's time to live a new life.
All you need to do is not drink for one day at a time0 -

Thanks Jo, but just had v/m from "really scary client" who I will have to call back when MIL drops boys off. Immediately I feel less strong. I WILL DO IT THOUGH!
Alcohol does blank out crapness, but it also blanks out the feelings of pride which is what you will be feeling when you make the phone call and deal with it without a hangoverDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Jo - that was pretty anti-climatic (is that the right spelling) you know what I mean anyway about telling your OH.
Caz - well done for your decision.:T
